Top 100 Launch for #1 DJ 2005!!!
Words of Terry Church
It’s almost that time of the year again, where the public get to nominate their favourite DJs in the world’s most important DJ poll.
Voting starts for DJmag’s Top 100 DJs Poll right here on this website (www.djmag.com) on Friday 19th August at 00.01 HRS (GMT).
so.. who's it gonna be guys??
My top 5 picks this year...
Preach
Marco V.
Tiesto
Armin
Sasha
:D
I think it will be interesting to see if Tiesto remains #1 for the 4th year.. although I personally don't think he should be.
Tijs has been in the spotlight long enough now... Time for a new #1 in my books! (but he still gets a vote from me :p) |

| Well, judging from personal experience thus far in the year, I'd vote for A&B. I've always disliked voting or following the big names. I'm the underdog-supporting kinda guy. |

Nick Warren gets the vote from me for top dj this year. no question about it.
I dont think i'll be voting for any non-british DJs
Tiesto will be #1 again this year |

I would be really surprised if Tiesto isn't number one again.
Even if people are starting to think maybe someone else like Armin or PVD should get it its unlikely that they still won't give one of their votes to him.
That's how I feel, I don't think he should be number one, but still he gets one of my votes. |

Tiesto will get #1 this year...but after all these "In Concert's" he's been doing, don't look for him to repeat next year. In 2006 he'll be more likely to win an award for best new "Pop" artist at the Grammy's that top DJ on the Top 100 poll.
I can't see his older fans supporting him much further along as he makes the tranition into the mainstream eye with guys like Moby, Chemical Brothers and Fat Boy Slim and - to a lesser extent -Oakenfold. And his new 107 fans won't be familiar enough with the music scene to know to vote for him in the Top 100 poll.
At least this is the prediction I read in my tea leaves this morning.... |

here is an idea...
instead of voting for the same old djs who we know are going to be in the top 100 anyways, why not reserve your votes for Toronto DJs? If enough of us around here do that then maybe for once in our lives a Toronto DJ will actually make it into the top 100.
Sadly all this is is a pissing contest. It has nothing to do with actual talent but unfortunately this list helps make and break careers. So its up to us fans to support our local talent because nobody else is going to. |

Tiesto has been commercial since the turn of the century. But yeah he has taken it over the top lately. There is a definately backlash in europe right now. Most of tiesto's fans there seem to be 14 year old girls. |

....I also expect Corsten to push hard to get into the top 3
I'd also like to see...
- Carl Cox get back into the top 10 with him starting to cater more heavily to his loyal techno fans by playing some crazy hard sets around the world in 2005 including a return to T.O. (seemingly twice this year)
- Chris Liebing replace Picotto in the top 20 as one of the best techno DJ's in the world. Picotto in my eyes officially lost it this year.
- Fleming start moving up again after a big drop last year, and more Psy-trance DJ's taking more spots on the poll |

people in Netherlands that I talked to while I was there don't like Tiesto one bit... he is too commercial and has already had his time in NL..he was popular there years ago.. hasn't been for probably the last few now...
most people that I met there were all about progressive or techno instead of trance.. |
