Who was better in their prime?
I don't think anyone could ever touch Oakenfold due to his '99 Ess Mix days. |

| I think Oakey was best in his prime. But the nose dive he took really knocks anything he did down a few pegs. I mean Tiesto never really comprimised himself(not gonna say sold out, because the both did, fack! everyone does) like Oakey did. |

Oakenfold.
He was in his true TRUE prime around 1994, 1999 was just when he was popular. Though even then his mixing and track selection was better than Tiësto's. |

| Oakey has actually contributed to dance music a lot over the years. Look in many classic albums and you'll see his name in the Thank Yous. He also ignited the goa scene and then went on to become the world's highest paid Pro Tools operator. |

I've even heard that he used to work on Def Jam, in the days when the Beasties were still on it. This sounds a bit tenuous though. |

He used to spin everything. Set of note, his 1993 Essential mix. Just complete banging house then mixed into some intense psytrance.
/me now playing: Paul Oakenfold - Essential Mix - 06-11-1993 [113:19m/192Kbps/44KHz]
I defy you to try and find such a well mixed progression from two completely different genres. This is an example of Oakenfold in his prime. 1993 and 1994. |

| That kind of contest is like the Special Olympics. But while we're on the subject, Oakey's '99EM tour is pretty damn good. |

| well guys, I saw them both live, Oakenfold I saw twice, once in Roseland Ballroom NYC, he was there with Sandra Collins and Max Graham. He was not that good and was overshadowed by Max, hands down. Max was so good I got my Britain Flag signed by him, and I am russian.. lol.. Gotta love the brits. But then I saw him this March in Cancun, let me tell you, that was the best set I heard ever in my life live, I could not stop jumping and going crazy, and I was not on drugs, just beer.. lol.. But Tiesto is the best in my eyes right now, with stuff he spins, Oakys albums are week and songs he picks suck, but I have not heard any of his new live sets accept what I heard in Mexico. Tiesto live is also great, I saw him once. I love his mixes from 2003 on, I had a chance to download some of his sets and I love them.. I am having problems downloading these days, I know of only WinMX to download, PM me with other sites where I can get sets to download, please. Also when Digweed used to come to our best and legendary club Twilo in nYC, that was something else, I never saw people go that crazy, I happened to hear him last time before they shut down down the club when he promoted GU: LA.. it was crazy.. thanks guys.. I have been a fan of this music for years, just joined this site, I love it!!! |
