As shocking as it might be to some of you, my best clubnight ever was Armin 8.30.2003

He can bring it when he wants to

same here - 8.30.03 is still one of the most memorable gigs for me, but armin didn't bring it last night (at least not for me). but then again, i don't think he can bring it for me anymore cuz i find most of his tracks to be boring.

if i wasn't working last night there was no way i was making it out - i felt like a trainwreck from leeeeeeeeeee. but worked from 10 - midnight (or so) - the presale line was already around the block when i showed up at 10 - craziness - and i don't think anyone that i helped with tickets spoke english. armin sure does have a following with a lot of eastern european peeps - my russian friend was translating for me the entire night - lol.

funny story - this one guy asks my friend if he can help to get him in for $100, my friend responds "why don't you just go in the cash line up against the building - it's only $45." IDIOT!

anyways - after working some of us workers got some food and drink (excalibur has some excellent chicken fingers!) and i headed up to the club, which was as packed as i've seen it. they tried to make the side room/lounge dark so that you felt that you were in a club more than a lounge - which was nice. the club still looks absolutely fabulous with the halloween decorations and there were even slut cages on the stage with clubbers inside - i'm sure armin loved that touch to the club - women in cages dancing - what more could a dj want?

there was no way i was getting on the dancefloor, so headed up to the dj booth and (shocker!) found glass and d&g girl. i think armin came on about 1:15 or so...the only tracks that i can ID is some remix of Who is Watching (which was really good!). decided to leave around 3 am - the horrible remix of message in a bottle came on and i knew it was time to leave - it was way too crowded and hot - no real room to dance and have a good time. and considering that only about 1 of every 3 or 4 tracks peaked my interest it wasn't worth staying. so i was all nice and comfy in my princess bed by 3:30.

hope the rest of you who went had a good time - i wish i could go to a trance event that wasn't in' packed - i think i may still have a good time, but when you're being pushed and shoved and have no room to dance i just can't handle that anymore. at least at leeeeee there as no problem with finding room to dance.

BRING ON SANDER K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review to come soon

But first were was James last night:rolleyes: ?

I was kind of disappointed in Armin's performance. I KNOW he trainwrecked at least once and his mixing just seemed downright sloppy. Other than that I had a great time and I got to meet some new TAs. :p

yeah - for the short time that i was there, his mixing was kind of off - which is unusual for armin. i think there were problems with the mixer, decks etc. - something was definitely wrong in the booth. but, even after those problems were fixed, there were a couple of times that i felt that i was on the titanic.

:( that's kind of a shame. i remember when armin was @ vision back in may [http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=266839], the response on here afterwards was freakin' outstanding [that night did kick a lot of ass].

kind of disappointing not to see that same level of excitement. i always liked hearing how great of a time people had.

Looks like we picked the right Armin show to miss...

Also glad to see that the first review was from Kristen... ;)

Only seems appropriate....

i got there around 10:45 and had to wait in the presale line:eek:

i actually had a great time last night. i spent a good amount of time on the dancefloor, and they really had the dBs cranked, cuz now at 2:00 the following day, my left ear is still ringing :nervous: i was a little disappointed in the track selection....i kept waiting for some tracks that had an edge to them, but it was still "good trance" throughout the night. i thought the mixing was okay. yep, there was the one obvious trainwreck. i think a little more blending would have been appropriate for the tracks being played. the place was packed....the "2nd dancefloor" was in full use (although the xecutinoers ball video loop got old very fast)...yet it was still easy to get around and people were polite. there was a lot of energy from the crowd...a lot of "armin! armin!" as 5 am drew near. he was soaking it up...had a smile on his face for most of the night. there were 2 encore tracks played.....

personally, it was the best time i've had @ vision...

kew to run into phreek and jeniferene :D

WEll... since you all area already posting up I feel i should say a few things... tired as hell... just woke up :)

I'm happy to see that others felt the same way about the night....I think some of the things that got ed up were:
-RJ and Erik K playing some of Armin's fav's tracks...
-they pumpin up the crowd TOO much so there was not much energy in the crowd after 3 (you can see this by looking on the sides of the 2nd floor....) and that is why Armin played some tracks to make the crowd breath a bit
-there were how many polacks there? they all seemed to push and shove, which i dont mind TOO much since it was a placked place but when some random drunken mafioso's keep on bumpin in to you, even after you politely ask them not to keep bumpin into you..then that gets annoying..
-the sound levels!?!? grrrrr, there was something wrong...seriously... I heard it clip a few times and the rumble of the bass was just soo not clear.... plus if you were on the stage (by the cages) you could hear the reverb of the speakers....
-as armin was about playmo in the encore, the f00kin cdj wasn't workin... :-\ He was getting tired himself at the encore and he was like, okayy..time to go home now.... but I guess pure wanted him to play "another" track...
-looked like there were so many ppl on drugs...and even armin was making fun of it by giving funny faces to his friend...ha, i totally felt him...

It seemed that Armin has gotten new status on the block by the WIDELY distribution of his ASOTs online.... hence there were a lot new kids @ his show... and like, omg! omg.... :-|

But.... It was a memorable night nevertheless.... I couldn't remember all the tracks but I wrote the ones I could on a few napkins..hehe...

not in any particular order:

Deepsky ft. Jes vs Yilman Altahan - Ghost (AvB bootleg)
Armin van Buuren ft. G & D - Zocalo
Mr. Sam - Lyteo
Way out West - Killa (Orkidea remix)
Marco V - False Light
Markus Schulz ft. Departure - Without you Near (G & D remix)
The Police - S.O.S. (Svd remix)
Mark Norman - Touchdown
PG2 vs. Randy Katana.... sommmething...
Marc Marberg - Guarana
Armin van Buuren - Shivers

Encore: Marcel Woods - Advanced and that sweet vocal track...anyone know this?

Some highlights:
-Armin putting on Lyteo and singing along with it, then turned to in front of the booth and looked directly at me and we had a moment of singing right when the bass kicked in..that was definitely dope...
-ARmin gesturing to the girls in front of me, come on now, dance, let loose! and the girls just STOOD there all night, ohhh, so frustrating...
-Armin and his funny faces cuz he saw these ppl grinding their teeth away...hehe
-some ppl I saw last time..I was totally caught by surprise...good times :)

Overall, it was an interesting night.... I was a bit dissapointed with the sound quality, but ARmin was having a good time of his own and when he was putting on that techy tribally stuff around 330...that's when he was getting creative...that was good ... :) But the friends I took with me decided to leave @330 cuz they couldn't take it (they also were dancing too much for the warm up) so I decided to stay and then some ppl I knew from last time came up to me and we stuck together..which was good times...

I have a bunch of video's and pics that I will post soon.... so stay tuned

Cheers

I've read enough bull about ticket prices. Honestly I think it's Pure thats screwing people over on ticket prices on this one. To see Armin at Bleu in detroit (MUCH smaller than Vision) you'll only pay like $25. I think the last time I saw him there my ticket was a little under $30 with the groovetickets fees. So enough about "Tiesto Jr" or how much it costs to bring Armin in, because in the end you're takin it up ass from Pure...

Keep in mind seeing Armin in Detroit is probably a Thursday night where he charges half of what he does on a Saturday. The Pure guys are definitely not rolling in the cash...think about how many shows they lose their asses on. The big shows pay for the (money losing) small shows.
