Okay...so I was invited into Tiesto while waiting to flyer the exit.
HIGHLIGHT of the night...
...walking into Tiesto at 11:20pm
...first mix...
...ohh...its going off...
...ohh adjust the platter Tijs!
...aohh noo....ahhh...uhh...ohhh yuck!
Nice one Mr. #1
The number one DJ in the ing world cannot beat match two records at a show thrown specifically for HIM and HIM only...with the BEST ing setup he could come up with for himself to play on.
Tiesto is a god damn ing joke and now I know it from FIRST HAND experience. What the hell happened to the guy who had passion behind the decks in 2002?
The setup was quite nice...not as impressive as TiC's in Amsterdam, but still better than anything we've seen here.
The lighting was alright but many lights were out of sync, and it seemed to have trouble following the music. Avalon's lighting > TiC LA
I can't really comment on the sound since I never went to the front of the floor, but it sounded very good although the highs seemed a little over saturated.
Tiesto played some good tracks, in fact the tracklisting is really not too bad...
..but...
INTERMISSION with ing acrobatics and pre-recorded music in the middle of a "set"..
What the ing hell?
Why not just have a damn monkey up there pushing play on good tracks, since thats all Tiesto hasgoing for himself at the moment (track selection).
And then...after the intermission and the dancers...(cool but I go to concerts for the music/headliner)...
Tiesto does one good mix...and then...fades out of the next track...lets the crowd cheerhim on...pushes play and fades into the next track.
This happened MORE than once.
A little later, I heard the beats going off again (confirmed by two other DJ's with me)...going more off...thewn ooo the entire trainwreck to be fades out...
....and the he BLASTS in the track he had mis-beat matched.
I'm sorry this is just ing RIDICULOUS.
THE NUMBER ONE ING DJ IN THE WORLD....
...CANT BEATMATCH.
REGARDLESS of me liking trance vs. prog...
...you cannot deny the fact that he just...cannot...ing...MIX.
Which is a damn DISGRACE for someone who is supposed to be #1 in the world...I.E. SKILLED, I.E. PROFFESIONAL, I.E. FLAWLESS
Its not like he had one or two ups...okay...I up on Ableton too...it can happen.
Tiesto just had mixing accross the board for the entire time I was in there 11:20 -> 1am
He'sa joke...plain and simple...it tranceds whatever genre you're into...hes just NOT a good DJ anymore...and he DOESNT ING CARE.
We watched him sit there with his top of the line sound setup and system, as the beats drifted off...and he sat there smiling...without laying a FINGER on the platter...
This is just NOT acceptable for the #1 DJ in the world...
I wouldnt even place him in the top 50.
And to those arguing about who can pull more people...personally...I don't ing care. I don'tgo see a DJ based on how many people they can pull...Britney Spears can fill a Stadium...but she still sucks...
So baisically...huge dissapointment...and I was hoping that he would redeem himself... |

You know me...I'm not a hater for no reason...I gave him a chance and Tiesto didn't cut it. :(
But yeah I ran into a few TA's Curly,Carrie,Woody,Julia...
Was looking for you other peeps but I guess you were all at the front. Anyways if you had a good time great, but please do not vote him #1 again...PLEASE!
btw yeah Michelle there was nothing else to do till close...flyering was fun though...seeing all the cracked out people coming out was interesting since I'm usually one of them :wtf: |

Like I said I don't hate him...I mean I'm sure hes an alright guy...I've heard your good experiences with him...but he is just not a good dj at all anymore and its sad to see so many people kissing his rear when there is such better talent out there... |

I think that Tiesto did a spectacular job filling the Sports Arena! After all, this isn't Holland, where Tiesto In Concert II sold 55,000 tickets in 3 hours!! A few pics from that phenomenal event:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...d/t-218720.html
It's not really legitimate to compare events in other countries to dance parties here in the States. The venues are smaller here, not designed for this kind of thing (must be retrofitted), are subject to early closure rules in LA (limiting sets to 4 hours), and people in the States just don't party in mass like those in Holland or a lot of other countries (but work to live, I say!) :tongue3
I was up close to the stage, and would say that Tijs was extremely happy, even excited to be at this event! To me, he looked very proud and grateful, not arrogant, that everyone was supporting the music (and yes, to be fair, a lot of it was his music...he created it after all!) :eyespop:
As to why the concert ended at 1:30 a.m., this is the way it happens in LA. ANY DJ could have been up there and once time's up the security would have drug them out feet first if they didn't stop. When I saw Tiesto in Las Vegas Memorial Day weekend, his set was from 3:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.! He wasn't scheduled to go that long, but Vegas has no rules, probably why it was selected for NYE! :toocool:
I really wasn't sure if I would vote Tiesto #1 again or not, but after this event I have no doubt, the answer is YES! :D |

Man what a day. I am just recovering. I made it just in time to the sports arena after leaving from Ozzfest. I was suppose to leave at 6:00 but I ended up staying untill the end of Slipknots set around 7:40. I flew to LA and got in about 20 minutes before Tiesto came on. The line was out of control. I walked strait to the front of the line where everyone was standing around. Their was a huge gap in the line where people where just cutting. Thats why it took so long for most. I just walked strait up to the security who did not even search me and walked right in. Suck who ever had to wait( now @ the after party the wait was diffrent). Tiesto came on and the crowd went crazy me included. All those fireworks were cool. The crowd was so pumped up. It was funny every time the camera came over the crowd. People were going nuts. It was nice to actually have some room to dance watching Tiesto. Usually the clubs are soooo packed that you can not even dance and it is so hot. I had tons of room to dance and it was pretty cool in the room. I was up front for the beginning but it was too crowded for me. I had to back up where I felt people were dancing alot more and enjoying themselves. I actually like going to the seats the best where you could watch the crowd and the show. I was hoping I would run into some of you TA's but I did not. I saw a lot of you at the after party though. It was funny how they were giving away the t-shirts. They just put a check on your wrist band. I saw all kinds of wrist bands on the floor without marks so I just put it on to see if they would give me another shirt. Of course they did and another and another. I was just doing it for fun. I wanted to try and sell them but I forgot. I had a great time and I think I want to go to the NYE vegas show. Thanks too all of you who posted your pics. I was in such a hurry aftre Ozzfest that I ran off with out my camera in my car. Hopefully they make a DVD out of the footage they took.
p.s. I had been wiating all night for him to sign those headphones and throw them out. I positioned my self perfectly. It was one of the craziest moments after he threw them out. It might have been the drugs but it was like everything was in slow motion. I leaped up and literally had my hands on his headphones when a big ass 6'6 dude in a red shirt ing snags them out of my hands. I wanted too cry. I had to give the guy props though. I want a DVD made for proof of my hand grabbing the headphones. I wish I would have never touched them because that whole night I kept having flashbacks of me jumping and almost getting them and still have flashbacks. I guess its not my fault I am just too short. I hope all of you had as much fun as I did and I will see you @ NOCTURNAL WONDERLAND. |
