But I still spent more then half the time just standing there listening to the music because... that is all you can do to progressive.

so tell me, who's winning the fifth race at belmont today?

Ok, so you're an anomaly. I can respect that (although I still urge you to get some professional help). However, your DJs are only winning the race because of other manipulated sheeps. :)

Hey, play fair now. I didn't say progressive is much fun.

What do you suggest I listen to that you think I already haven't Soren? Can't be that hard to accept the fact that someones favorite musical genre REALLY IS TRANCE!!!!!!!!!

I have no consistent musical taste.

Well, it's like the Oscars, I think. The ones you're rooting for never win, but it's fun to see the results anyway.

i hate to watch actually and i really do think it's the bane of the scene's existence.. it's worse then being in a padded cell with life-sized pictures of prego-britney spears with "hit me baby one more time" on repeat from a remotely located stereo stystem. ugh. shoot me.

james, trust me- i thought the same exact thing 3-4 years ago. i'm not saying that you will turn the dark side as 90% of us have, but chances are, you will.

I just think its BS when people say that crap about EDM. "Keep listening and your tastes will change." Been listening to trance since the 8th grade... no change except for some minor differences in the genre itself, which I have grown to like. Progressive is good driving music and house is great for sex. Thats the end of it.

I don't suggest that there's a track or set that will suddenly show you the errors of your ways, James. No, instead I suggest that you listen to PvD, AvB, and all the other three letter abbreviations doing the beats-breakdown-beats-breakdown routine for a couple of years. Then you'll be ready for the transition. In fact you'll get down on your shaking knees, rub your tiny fists against your sweaty forehead, and cry out "Thank you God. Ooooh. Thank you sooo much!!!" once those funky ass beats of Adam Beyer's "Discipline" hits you...
...or alternatively, you'll get hit by a bus before that, and it will never happen. Who knows?:conf:

No - it's just hard to accept that so many people still vote for a guy like PvD, who's clearly coasting on his reputation.:)

Soren, you are still going to post to this forum even when you move back, right? :D

Actually I like trance still after 7 years. Sorry. But I don't like Armin or Tiesto anymore but I still like PVD and Ferry Corsten. I think Tiesto kind of sucks and Armin bores me lately. PVD at Crobar was wicked and his livesets are some of my favorites lately. But I've always liked tribal and progresive stuff as well, even back in the beginning. Sasha is good and so it Diggers lately for me. Plus, I love Steve Lawler when he's tribal, not the electro stuff. I'm just not feeling the electro house!! Zabiela was great live. Danny Howells blew the roof off of Spirit after you get past the ambient stuff. I just like all sorts of EDM, I don't discrimate.

And I hate HOUSE PREACHERS that are always on this board preaching that trance is cheese or that's it hasn't grown (as the reverse will say progressive is sleepy). Some techno all sounds like one continual noise to me. Some breaks sound too bleepy bloopy for me. Same tired comments. I like the melodies of trance and the driving rhythms of house. Nick Warren GU is good but so is some trance sets by Jon O'Bir. I don't why it has to be black & white. I even liked some Carl Cox thrown in there sometimes. And I didn't say PVD at SS was that great, I review trying to be impartial.

My top 5:

1. PVD
2. Steve Lawler
3. Hernan Cattaneo
4. Ferry Corsten
5. Danny Howells

What? And risk being proven wrong in two years, when it turns out that Adam Beyer was the one being hit by the bus and you're still listening to PvD? I think you must be raving.:p
