HHC is prolyl my most hated form of dance 'music', simply coz it isn't music, it's just noise, and everytime I've seena dancefloor playing it, everyone is ed beyond all belief (most likely so that they can withstand such a viscious onslaught of jagged sound)

booooooo!
DjGeMiNi529

oh yea, the helium, high pitched vocals i dont like. its when its a beautiful female vocals come on, that is gets good. or a male MC rooting the song along.

its actually 200 bpm or more in genre's like gabber, and speedcore.

do speedcore a favour and don't mention it again :wtf:

Oh, and "real good happy hardcore" sounds like an oxymoron to me...

that's incorrect there ;)

Having grown up on it in the mid 1990s when there was not a lot else that was easily accessible (you could buy whole event recordings with 12 tapes & a full nights music for £20) then I feel the need to defend it.

Yes, there are songs in it, find me a genre that doesn't have something that someone doesn't like though.

There has been a lot of evolution over the last 10 years, for a start a lot of the stuff pre 1994/5 wasn't even 4/4 and was pretty damn good. Look for old stuff from vibes & wishdokta & Jimmy J & Cru-LT and Luna-C (alias of cru-lt)

the 4/4 revolution came in, and there was an awful lot of good stuff about, DJs at their peak from 95-98 include

DJ Vibes
DJ Sy
Vinylgroover
Brisk
Seduction
Slipmatt
Dougal
Scott Brown
Marc Smith

Of course, like in allgenres, after 5 good years, there was a lull, and thats pretty much where I moved out for a bit, that came in 1999.Just over 5 years on, where trance has gone through a similar lull, I find myself listening to hardcore now. Sure a lot of it is cheesy, but it's fun, and if you can actually bring yourself to listen to some of it properly without a closed mind, you might enjoy it.

Modern day heroes that have taken up the mantle include

Darren Styles (ex force & styles, formerly known as evolution until mid 1996)
Breeze - probably the best mixer amongst the current bunch

Then you get freeform, gabber, trancecore, speedcore & much much more. For trancecore, see GBT records from 1996-1998ish, don't check out a certain guide that has the wrong definition for it ;)

Anyway, dislike it ? fine. Hate on it ? give me valid reasons & I'll accept it, simple ones of 'candy kids listen to it' or 'i cant get into it so it must be ' don't qualify

end 10am rant :p

i'd have to disagree. he can mix two tunes together as well as anyone else but theres nothing special to his mixing. and filled with clangs the last time i saw him play out no less :P

now kev energy does a lot of experimental cutting, and mixing. for actual dj talent i'd have to say hes leading the bunch in my opinion.

and there's always the rare oppurtunity i get to see luna c play out :D filled with remixes and movie quotes.

going back to some of my tapes from late 99 and 2000, I found his sets to be pretty well mixed. I always rated sy & vibes too out of the old lot. Energy, was good, tho i'm more of a sharkey man, love that guy
