I don't know why so many people slag off happy hardcore. The closest they come to it is probbably downloading tetris (happy hardcore mix).
There were some wicked breakbeat and 4/4 tunes around 94/95, anything since is a bit pootang but the style changed after that. |

poontang?
Um, the reason why I don't like happy hardcore is because... it's painful to listen to. |

When my brother first got into clubbing in the early 90s, he was a HHC, gabba and speedcore freak, and even in recent years I have gone to the odd party that had a HHC floor, ventured in, then ran out covering my ears.
It's a violent attack on my aural sense, not unlike heavy trash metal. |

i used to like happy hardcore (during the early days of scooter, the grid, that song 'jump', etc ...) ..
now i guess my ears matured enough to know that happy hardcore is not for me .. i am more into elegant vocals and sweet ambient beats .. then again, i am a ol' boring schumuck nowadays ...
i do follow the train to prog music nowadays also .. :) |

Aye, I'd recommend anything set wise from Top Buzz, Ratpack, Phantasy, hype, clarkee & many other DJs, esp the first duo tho, top buzz were pretty damn wicked |

Seems I switch music styles every now and again, here is my journey. It might be better presented as a kind of line graph but you'll get the idea. :)
88-94 Dance (whatever was available / oldskool)
94 German techno/trance (westbam / jam & spoon)
95/96 Happy Hardcore / jungle
97/98 Speed Garage & prog House/tranceish
99-01 Trance
00-03 Hard House
03-04 Trance
05 - Prog House / house - not feeling the new trance much anymore |
