not that this totally relates to the subject of the thread as far as letting them rot.
BUT :
IF YOU : were in the same situation ( stuck downtown New Orleans ) what would you do?
I was discussing that and my dad was like I'd just walk the hell outta there.
The problem with the way this is going right now is it's poorly organized and even if it had been done well from the start I'm sure it would still have been pretty slow to get everyone out..
tricky ... :/ |

| I would definitely be looting stores and shooting at helicopters that want to take people away |

| What they need to do is get all the water out of there and then napalm the entire area....then rebuild from scratch |

A lot of buildings from the French Quarter have survived which would be devestating if they caught on fire and were burned |

| While I'm not excactly happy with our government, I will say that I would much rather have them run the country than some of you guys. |

| I am so angry with many Americans!!! I hate the fact that some have to point fingers and place blame, on the government, on the people who live in the area, on anyone... AAAHHHH!!! We have to be more intelligent than this... The reality is this, it's been 72 hours since NO started flooding, We have rescued, relocated, and sent supplies to thousands and thousands of people. We have done this in an area that has no communication, no electricity, no normal ways of transportation. The closest they could get was 150 miles away and then had to work there way through the destruction to get to NO. Landmarks are gone, you can't follow street signs or maps, people were preparing for a hurricane, a situation where you expected to start recovery the next day. There is no way to REALLY prepare for something like this. Then to make the situation worse, and something I think is difficult for anyone to comprehend... you have people shooting rescue workers, helicopters, and hurting the victims of this disaster. We live in America, we don't understand catastrophe, we don't understand the realities of trying to respond, we are so spoiled that we can't even see that we have been doing right. This is the USA, people aren't supposed to die and we don't know how to deal with it when our mortality is faced. We are ignorant to what it takes to try and get in there and help... we think that it should be easy, but it takes organization and a little bit of time to try and respond. We get angry with the fed. gov. without realizing that that we are governed at local, state and federal levels and that each level is working hard and fast. More importantly, we should be looking to the American people and holding each other responsible to pull together... this is not about sitting there blaming the gov. for not doing a good enough job, this is about America as a whole responding and unifying together to overcome.... those of you who criticize and tear down are like the snipers shooting the rescuers and the victims. It's shameful and disgusting! This is not about a your political point of view... there will be a time to analyze and figure out what we can do to do better, in case we have to deal with something like this again. This is NOT that time... Please, unite, so we can conquer... |
