Recently purchased a new pair at Aldo when I was on vacation (but they are still in my bag which is in C/O American Airlines right now (cause they are inefficient bastards).
Sly, I know know you were joking ;) And yea a size 40 is pretty big for a high-schooler! |

I know this one guy...he has been wearing the following since grade 10 >>> black suit (3-piece), white long sleeve shirt, white socks, black wingtips, bowler hat(?), monacle, pocket watch, and usually has an ambrella that doubles as a walking stick. His nickname is "penguin" as he looks like one, just like in batman movies. A lot of ppl were "creeped" out by him...I guess drawing blueprints of guillotines didn't help his image either. |

I had a 44 shoulder width when I got my suit for prom :cool: It seemed that everybody was 42-46, I don't recall any of my friends needing 40s or lower (a whole load of us went to Stars Menswear one day). |

from what I've read, you're probably much better off getting a made-to-measure suit, than looking for a suit off-the-rack and altering it. alterations cost a fair bit (trust me I know), and it will never look as good.

Yeah, 5'10 and 125lbs. would be very difficult to buy off the rack.
Nice shoes are important, and on that note, shoes matching with the belt is very important too.
Also, don't forget that if the pants are pleated the bottom has to be cuffed. |

It all depends on the reason for wearing the suit. If you're having a meeting with high society types, investment bankers, conservative party members, a three piece suit is rather acceptable. If you're going into some sort of negotiation with the everyman then you definately want two piece. Regardless, a 3 piece always has the option of being a two piece. |

pocket watches rule :D I had one all throughout middle school but I have no idea what happened to it.
As for wearing a vest, I think it's only appropriate at a formal party or in church/synagogue. Don't see many people wearing 3-piece suits to business meetings and such, or nights on the town. |

French cuff shirts are the way to go as well.
I have no preference on collar (spread or straight is fine). |

I thought it was relevant, and I don't see what it has to do with maturity.
Sure, you were talking about "NOT" wearing the vest all the time, but I was elaborating on your comment about a 3 piece suit being "versatile", in respect to "not" wearing the jacket all the time.
It might just be my opinion, but vests are passe, and nobody really wears them anymore. Sure you can wear it, but it'll add years to your appearance, and it's sort of out of style....With the suit, or without. |

Maybe I mis-read your post, but I took it as you saying that I advocated wearing a vest and slacks with no jacket. Which was not what I said at all. Anyhow, water over a duck's back.
French cuffs are too nice for me RJ! *drool* Plus I would need to buy some cuff-links... |

I also dig the French cuffs. Tabed collars are nice as well but really hard to find. |

Cuff links aren't expensive.... or at least they don't have to be. BTW, you're never over dressed in French cuffs.... they just kind of give some instant extra class to you. |
