really sucks. I have two cats, one that I had since I was 5, and the other one is only about 4 years old. We used to let the older one out but now we keep her inside. It's hard though, caus they want to go outside, but you know that you shouldnt let them for their own sake.

april 2004, i lost my cat, kitty, of NINE years. i was very sad, but i still had my archy, old cat, to cheer me up, and he's still around, and keeps me company when im at home. he's a old cat, walks up the stairs step-by-step instead of dashing, and his senses are getting duller as time goes on. i can run way faster than him now. i can run and cause commotion while he's sleeping on the sofa, and he barely rouses like a normal cat would do.

but, he's healthy, and old, and that makes a friendly cat.

Anyone ever lose a pet? I just lost my cat of five years. I'm pretty sure a wild animal killed her. Been 3 days without a trace totally sucks. I guess if you really love your cat you shouldn't let them out at night no matter how much they cry. :(

Im not being funny here, but how can you tell that they cry? i mean do they drop tears?

sorry for the loss :-/

i used to do the same thing. until one day he came home with a huge gash in his neck, and bleeding badly. another time, he brought fleas into the housing costing us hundreds in fumigation. he used to meow long and hard begging to go outside, but over time of never bowing down to his whining, he doesnt even try anymore.

I have 2 cats....Ill never let them out of the house. Especially after I moved. One of them is too friendly and has no common sence...so either she would get scared an run into the street or she would go up to someone that would keep her....I would think she would get stolen before getting hit though....she has two different color eyes...so someone would take her home in the blink of an eye.

i had the best cat in the world....

was with me from when i was born up until I was nearly 18yrs old.

I had moved around all my life, leaving friends and making friends all through the way....

...and the only thing that stayed with me through it all, besides my direct family, was my cat Magic. He'd always walk me to the bus stop from Pre-K to the point where i'd drive myself to school, he'd try to get in the car with me.

best friend I've ever had. No lie. I have a weird connection with that animal.

I still miss him :(

This thread proves why dogs are better than cats.

How old was the cat? I do know that alot of animals when they know that their time is up, they run and die peacefully alone. I learned this from my grandfather who lived on a farm. He had told me about it but I pretty much saw it happen about 6 years ago. My gramps aussie shepard dog was about 14 and was just getting old and slow. I saw him walking out into the pasture... and he wouldnt return even though I tried calling. The next afternoon we went out into the pasture and found her laying down under a tree. She passed away sometime that night or morning I would guess. Just the way animals do it I guess?

Sad story but I was kind of expecting you to say that your grandfather knew it was his time to go and he walked out to the pasture.... :wtf:
