my opinion...play the talent and not the names. the netherlands is a prime example. their new coach plays the best players at the moment, not the biggest names. they're kicking ass with the dutch league young guns and without players like seedorf, davids, kluivert, etc.
if sven would wise up, he'd start playing the best performers in games instead of stockpiling underachieving big names in the lineup. |

| England really sucks bigtime, They lost against Northern Ireland. It's the bloody players fault, Not this man's.. |

That was a good read, thank you. I wouldn't put it past those players lobbying Sven for that formation. They probably thought "hey, it's Northern Ireland, we wont' lose to them in a million years so let's have everybody get to play". Selfishness. Playing for England is supposed to be the height of any player's dreams. If Lampard, Beckham and Gerrard are so selfish as to put themselves over the team, then they need to be disciplined. But Sven's got his faves as everyone says...which is why he needs to be sacked now and the FA can start over with a new tactically minded manager.
and by any player's dream, I mean playing for one's country.;) |

I think Eriksson is not the problem in this qualifying round. I think you should look at the players, because with a national team with so many superstar players the coach doesn't really carry the responsibility no more.
Anyway, we have always seen that England always get nervous in the important games, no matter which coach was doing the job (from 1990 - up to now).
I think England will make it. They should keep their nerves. |

Sven is too defensive minded and doesnt have the balls to try all out attack. If we're chasing the game he'd rather make sure we prevent the other team scoring and hoping to nick a goal from somewhere instead of going for it. This type of tactic doesnt win you games.
However most of our players on the pitch dont help either. We have players who can pick the game up by the scruff of the neck but they just dont seem willing to make the effort for england. |

I agree...his defensive tendencies hurt England against Portugal...after Owen's quick goal, they should have pressed and put the Porkies away. Rooney getting hurt didn't help and I believe that's what allowed Portugal to win but coulda, shoulda, woulda.
I don't think it's lack of effort though...I think it's the pressure that builds in their minds every time they play. |

Smitty replace him with your hero David Moyes(sp):haha:
This happens every year right. I can remember the last 2 qualifying rounds for the Euro and WC they had a desperate match to quallify. Wasnt it Turkey in one and Greece in the other. Theres no doubt that they will qualify. The only questions I have for England are:
1. The Keeper(they all suck)
2. Cole-Terry-Rio-? that ? is full of e players
3. Media - to me the English media are the most criticial of all. I know ppl who think that is just because they can only read english so that is all they hear but trust me. Italy and Switzerland doesn't get nearly the amount of pressure or bashing england gets in the press. |

Aside from David James, who is absolutely a disaster at times, England's keeps have been decent. Robinson is definitely the #1. He had no chance on the goal by N. Ireland, made a few marvelous saves against Wales and didn't play in the 4-1 embarrassment to Denmark. (that was James)
Cole and Terry e? Nah man. I am starting to have serious doubts about Rio back there, though he was brilliant in the 2002 WC. Agreed about the English Press. This isn't the 1920's anymore...England aren't ever going to win anything with ease.
About Moyes...never quite had the confidence in him actually. He's made some bizarre moves but I'll let the season get a bit older before I start asking him to get canned.:D |

No no no Cole, Terry, bridge, Rio, King, Campbell etc I have no problem with its that right posistion I do no when can play fullback in england right now.
Robinson. I have no confidence in him in a big game against a big nation. James is awful, Kirkland is below average so is Green from Norwich.
:haha: just 3 more weeks until you ask for his head Everton is so bad this season. No offense |

All just a lump of bollocks. That is the problem with England players right now: They have skill, but because they earn so much money and therefore spend it and have "good nights out" :eyespop: they become . To put it bluntly. It is like that with every soccer player, not just in England. They should just chill and spend more time on the pitch and, most of all, concentrate and their skill. |
