I'm positive it's related.. I'm not upset about the TTC having to deal with such problems.. what the hell are they going to do about it??

My issue is there was no announcement or anything.. Whenever they have subway delays you at least get an announcement on the PA saying "we have delays, blah blah blah..." why can they not do that at subway stations that have impacted buses?? Then I can decide to look for an alternate route without worrying that I'm gonna miss a bus 5 minutes later..

It's not like I'm asking for a live RSS feed with up to date transit info.. but ever since they removed the service where each stop had a phone number you could call to find out about when the next buses were coming, the TTC is impossible to use to get somewhere on time, without wasting an extra 30 minutes to an hour to ensure you get there on time.

fatal car accident:

Eglinton reopens after fatal accident
Single-car accident may be linked to heavy rain during morning rush hour

CURTIS RUSH
STAFF REPORTER THESTAR.COM

A 35-year-old man is dead in a single-car accident after his lost control of his car and hit a guardrail on Eglinton Ave. E. in North York this morning.
No other drivers were involved. The driver was taken to Sunnybrook hospital, where he died.

Police are looking into the cause of the accident and haven’t determined whether the heavy rains at the time played a factor.

The accident, which happened at 8:06 a.m., forced police to close Eglinton Ave., between Brentcliffe Rd. and Leslie St., in both directions.

Police say the car struck the centre median, swerved to the right, struck and bounced off the north guardrail, and crossed six lanes of traffic. It mounted the south sidewalk and came to a stop against the south guardrail.

The accident happened directly in front of an ambulance. Paramedics found no vital signs when they got to the victim, police say.

The man’s name has not been released.

I heard there are realtime indicators of when the next bus arrives at the stops. If only TTC would evolve to that... dream on. :)

The TTC is actually looking to install light rail with the above mentioned indicators at each of the stops. I watched a presentation for it in my Transportation Geographies class last year. Who knows how long it will be in development though!

Seriously, the TTC is one of the best North American transit systems. For those of you who haven't lived outside of Toronto, you don't know how good you have it. That being said the TTC peripheral services are vastly inferior to the downtown services.

within NA I can imagine.. as it should be for a city like Toronto.. but Europe and Asia DESTROY us.. Look at London or Hong Kong, they blow Toronto out of the water..

If there is one consistency with the TTC, it's their inability to give a consistent service. Kinda embarassing that we have such a poor showcase of a mass transporation system for a city of this calibre.

Needs more Swiss public transportation.
