What I love about the culture and its people is how quick they are to drop instances of the past, social status, etc etc to thuroughly enjoy themselves. Hence the many, many festivals, fiestas, populated in their calendars, which to me as an American may be deemed the ever occuring stereotype as "lazy." I'm an optimist. And the people, whether poor or middle class that I had encountered were as well, despite their condition, which was what truly "expanded my views". That's what I've taken from my experiences. A thriving love of life that shines no matter circumstance. I could learn alot, your right. I still have alot to learn. But don't go assuming that I lack knowledge as to the condition. I've volunteered at a Guadalupe Center here for all those who who are basically helpless in terms of English and job skill. My experiences aren't solely "Hollywood" Here's a book I'm going to start:

My appreciation runs deeper than no, not your 5 years. But at least I've caught glimpses in my travels, classes and volunteering that I can say have changed my life.

SOrry for the late reply, time difference s it up and i wnet out...

I think this point youve been making is the one that most "gets" me.. i really dont think is entirely true, and sometimes it seems as if latin people are so "passionate" that they continue to dwell on lots of the past events that they find it hard to see the point as their vision is clouded..

for example: peru was colonized by spain, spain took lots of good. they conquered that back in the DAY.. and i still know a lot of people who are genunly angry about it and hol;d prejudiced views against spanish people sole because of this.. this is of course a stereotype, but oine i believe is based on fact.

i know more latin people with "beef" that they dont let go for the longest time.

abnd in terms of social status, ok, its not exactly the caste system, but after meeting people from all "classes" you def see how poorly the lower classes are treated. my good freinds mom for example (just 1 of many) is the sweetest person ever.. so nice.. if you are in her social class.. but once you see her talk to the maids... you are just like dammmmmnnn.

im sort of just playin devils advocate.. i had the best times of my life in latin american.. peru, ecuador, argentina, costa rica, panama, cuba, mexico, columbia.. i highly reccomend you do some sort of student exchange to a school in latin american in university.. i think you would love it to death..

i suppose im also just pissed im not there right now, so im bitching about it so i wont think about how much ass it kicked..:eyespop:
Mr. Pink
you can't characterize latin people with simple traits....

....cuz it's not a simple thing we're talking about here.

We're talking about black latinos, chinese lookin' latinos, latinos with red hair, white skin, blue eyes........they come in all shapes and sizes.....

your proto-typical latino exists, duh- but that's not Latino, period.

it'd be like sayin all Americans have blue eyes and blonde hair. wtf:wtf: everyone knows thats bull.

To say latinos are a certain way is pretty incorrect. You have latinos that were raised on islands, latinos raised in europe, latinos raised in the mountains of central/south America.

All of them with different cultures, different backgrounds, and yes- even different dialects of Spanish.

Hell........here's the damn SUMMARY:

we're not a fukin genre of music here....you cant CLASSIFY our attitudes, appearance or behavior.

somos individuos!
