Are you serious? The worst act of terrorism in US history and you want a footnote? Over 3000 people die, billions of dollars in damage, drastic increases in security - and you want a footnote?

Yeah, RJ, because rather than focus media attention on something that has already happened (four years ago) the point being made here by all is that this media money would be better spent by focusing on stories in which people are dying TODAY and TOMORROW and THE NEXT DAY...prevent MORE people from dying in the world by bringing these other HEINOUS crimes against humanity to the attention of the western world and possibly raise money/awareness to HELP solve THOSE problems.
Again, waste of air time and money...:( |

Yes I care, and always will. Innocent people were killed, and aside from anyone's political views regarding this event it should always be remembered. On a side note check out a smilar thread on the NYC page

Oh but it does threaten our way of life. To develop many of these nations is to eliminate cheap labour, deflated resources, etc. Helping guide a nation on the road to global market success means increased competition. To the developed world, developing the non developed world means a boom in demand for non renewable resources. Just like Oil and Gas is going up because of China's and India's boom, any other nation would require these same resources making it more expensive for the rest of us. Threatening our ability to fill the tank on our SUV....threatening our way of life......

I see where you're coming from dude but seriously, the significance of 9/11 was not just that a few people were killed - it was the first time since Pearl Harbour that Americans were attacked on a mass scale on their own soil.
Katrina may be 100x more devastating and more tragic, but it is also a *natural* disaster. |
