Will Hurricane Rita be Another Katrina?

For those in America...

The latest report indicates that Rita (once a tropical storm) is now upgraded to a major category 3 hurricane. It’s headed toward the Gulf region just like Katrina did. They say it may it Texas, but Louisiana or even northern Mexico may also get hit.

I wonder whether global warming has something to do with the increased frequency and intensity of recent storms.

Rita's a skanky slut bitch compared to Katrina.

No, there are natural hurricane seasons when there are just more of 'em.

I don't think Rita will be worse. I mean, Katrina was like a once in a generation kind of storm and it just happened to hit a place that was most vulnerable to flooding. I doubt that combination of things would happen again in the same year, but that is what they should prepare for.

its actually catagory 2, hitting key west and cuba simultaneously and is expected to become a catagory 4 before hitting the projected path to texas. hurricanes are extremely hard to predict and we can only react to what it does first.

katrina was bad because of how unprepared new orleans was and the geography of the city being a large portion of it was below sea level with only outdated levees holding back the water. top that with coastal retreat by several miles and much less swampland to absorb the flooding. add all this up and you have a really bad situation. the storm itself was just a catagory 4, nothing GIGANTIMUNDO!!
