I heard category 1 this morning. I doubt it'll be the same Katrina but you never know.

accuweather.com said today that they think it will be a cat 5 by friday but should weaken a lil bit due to cooler water off texas coast.

Wouldn't it be crazy if it ed up the Astrodome?

(I have no concept of Texan geography, so I don't know if Houston is sufficiently close enough to the gulf for this to happen...)

houston isnt right on the gulf, but its not far. it also has a river going through it, that could flood. houston is on the southwest coast about 2 hours from the mexican border.

Words of advice. Don't listen to accuweather or the forecasts they put out. They are for lack of a better terminology.. a weather sweatshop. Underpaid meteologists putting out as many forecasts as they can in as short of time.....

As for the hurricane... it wont be as terrible as Katrina was. But she will still be a strong storm. With warm sea surface temperatures over the gulf and little upper level shear (increased winds with height) there wont be much degradation to the hurricane. Current guidance (outside of succuweather) shows that it will be a strong category 3 to weak category 4.

At least now that people saw what can happen in powerful storms... they wont make the bad choice of staying when they should go.

not for us in Florida & I doubt wherever it's going from here...

Miami got nothing really but flooding & so did the keys

Katrina on the other hand came with intent to destroy, it did so as only a CAT 1 in Miami & as a monster 5 up there.

Laugh all you want at his appearance. Within that crudely fashioned caveman like cranium lies a sophisticated mind. Most of you noobs would have panicked and grabbed for any beer, but no not him. Admits the chaos he calmly surveyed the abandoned liquor store and chose Heineken. Not only did he come prepared with a storage box, he found room in his back pocket for a can Guinness.

There's a high pressure circulation at 500mb too, having southerly winds pushing towards Louisiana. not really sure if that's going to do much, but I'm doubtful that it's going to go north towards that area.

props for dissing accuweather too!

hehehe. Yeah you're right the green tint is the tip off. You also got to admire how he used the buoyancy to help him steal a great amount of beer. They should name a brewery after that caveman. :haha:
