i have never had a speeding ticket in the city. i never even come across speed traps except on Allen Rd.
highways are another story tho. man, it's nice to sit back and go 160 all the way. |

Psst ... just so you guys know .. 1 thing they teach you in Police Foundations / Police College ... there is no such thing as a monthly cop quota.. thats simply a myth...
They simply have to make sure they are pulling people over and doing their job..and if they have a really low amount of tickets handed out in a month they get warnings from their cheif officer.. people have mistaken this for a "quota" :)
as for all this talk .. bottom line .. we all hate getting them .. and dont want them, but they do happen... and you should be prepard to get them if your willing to speed |

If you get caught doing 160 on the highway you pretty much deserve everything coming to you. |

that's pretty much the definition of a quota. who sets the amount of pull overs that is good? who sets the amount of pull overs that is too low?
i mean in a call centre, you have a certain amount of call you have to deal with in a day. that's a quota. |

gek0, you are preaching to a person that has had two tickets in her life in the past 10 years.
i don't speed, i hate people that speed, but i know i also hate cops that pull people over just to reach some sort of monthly total. |

But the cops are not just pulling "anyone" over to make that quota. The people are in fact speeding and are guilty so the cop has every right to pull them over. So what if you are doing only 10km over and that they would normally let that slide earlier in the month. It's still speeding. And really, who cares if there is a quota or not? Cops are just doing what we all do. This world revolves around us having to deliver our quotas at work. If you don't deliver there is a chance you can lose your job. I agree that a cop should not use his or her power to become an in the process but saying one hates cops because they are just doing their job makes no sense. Sure maybe it is more likely that you are going to get pulled over for less near the end of the month. But there is always a good chance that
1) A debt collector is going to harrass their clients more, no matter what they owe, when month end arrives
2) A salesman is going to call on his smaller clients to harrass them more when the end of the month approaches and he hasn't made budget yet.
I wouldn't call these people s because they are trying to fill their work quota...what makes you think working as a cop would be any different?
People like to hate cops because they catch us for they we have done wrong. Hey, I know there are corrupt cops out there...that is a different story and something that should not be tolerated. But a cop doing his job, quota or not, does not give anyone the right to call him or her an .
I am rather sensitive when it comes to people making blanket statements about cops as I have a few friends who are very decent cops. Be angry at a cop because you were mistreated in the process of ticketing but saying you hate them all is just ridiculous. |

oh, i agree with you heidi. i just don't think their job should be based on the amount of people they pull over. it should be based on something else.
the police do have a job to serve and protect. why not have their job be based on how they do that?
i actually don't hate all police. i have had run ins with police that helped me and my family therefore they aren't all bad. |

i got caught doing 49 over by an opp.....reduced to 15 over and no points.....and i've gotten multiple tickets before that incident. it's all in how you play your cards....anything can be reduced ;) |
