Why hate the guy? if the story holds true then look at the situation this way. If his wife is the one that made the call, dont hate him. Hate his wife! Many guys that are married, have their balls in their wife's purse anyways. So probably to avoid any problems for their marriage he wont stand up to his wife. Probably a or some sort of wuss.... This is why I dont believe in doing anything for free if you are a DJ of his status cuz NOTHING is free. If it was even for $1000, then there is a contract and there is no bull about it. So the person to blame is the person who booked him in the first place. And to even more the individual who had the bright idea of taking a donation. By technical law, only 30% of the recieved donations have to be contributed to whatever cause, they could have easily given PvD a piece of it. Greed or not, PvD should have gotten something since he is part of making this effort/movement grow. I wouldn't point the finger to just one person but to everyone involved.

Well, here's what I've put together via several sources...

PvD's WIFE disapproves of the Love Parade organizers asking for a $5 donation upon entry to the festival. This is an OPTION for everyone and is simply a donation to help further improve LP for the years to come.

Anyhow, PvD's wife considers the whole donation thing as something used for monotary gain and because of that, she feels PvD deserves a cut of all the $5 donations...

That's not going to happen and because PvD is not going to play at the LP because of it, PAMDJs has pulled out altogether....so PvD AND his wife's greed for money has not only affected their day, but has also affected the rest of the PAMDJs DJs who were going to play at LP and has ed the fans who were really looking forward to seeing their lineup at LP.

There's a lot more to this than what's just be stated here, but I think that's enough fuel for now.

their greed. PvD has lost my support.

I imagine they'll still be at Ten15 that night.
so im guessing pvd got a cut from a MANDATORY 5 dollar donation extra after buying ticket when he ws here for his ROCK THE VOTE tour. and his rock the vote stupid 5 dollar donation

You are saying that PvD being here is helping LP grow? I think last year's turnout proved that all wrong when attendance was over three times what was expected...the vast majority of people didn't go to see certain DJs. They went for the experience and that's what most attendees last year remember from the event...the experience, not the DJs.

if this is true and seems to be like it is, The only reason to BE at LP was for Him...

now i dont even know if i wanna go...

ill make up my mind after class tomorrow and hopefully these are just rumors!!

you got to be kidding me...LP in SF is *not* about PVD. NOw I don't even want him there after hearing this.

Before fingers are pointed and blame is assessed you need to hear both sides of the story.

BTW I have never heard of a cover charge for a parade. Who's brilliant idea was that? How would that work (fence in the entire route)? Who would be in charge of collecting the proceeds and how would they be disbursed?

From what I know historically PVD has been one of most philanthropic members of the EDM scene.

Also don't solely blame PVD's wife. If he agreed to it he is the one to blame. Nobody is going to the parade to see PVD's wife.

Enjoy the parade folks.
DaveT
They did it last year as well...as you entered the gates to the festival, there were people at the entrances taking $5 donations. It was up to you whether you wanted to pay the $5 or not.

your right its not about him.. but its about the experience with him playing at it. Like in berlin..

I dont blame him if this was true either way... im still iffy about going i probably just wont go to the sardine fest at 1015..

but like i said ill make up my mind tomorrow..hehe

oh also another thing, on his website its not showing that he is playing at the event as it did before.

whats happening at the lpsf.org forums.. let go take a gander!

I hate women that dont let men go out and play!

I'm not saying the LP is all about PvD, but guys like him help this event out. He is the #2 DJ... where is the #1 and #3???? So yes he is part of this movement. PvD is not the experience alone but cuz of his influence and weight in the scene he is a big contributing factor. What experience is it if all there is Grade B and local DJ's. doesn't seem like much to me without the heavy hitters. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET PAID! The only time one should do pro bono is if the cause is going to some philanthropic cause. The donation should have been clearly outlined with what the proceed's were gonna go to. It is obvious the donation was going to be used for profiting in some sort of financial way. There is no way this LP is going down without someone making any money.
