Expensive.
If you're looking for a banner or something it's a few hundred depending on how difficult.
Whole site? More. I'm guessing 500 mininum for a whole site. Don't assume you'll get PHP support with that either. |

Ugh, don't build a Flash site. I'm still in awe of the number of web developers who still don't understand how impractical and downright annoying it is.
They require a 3rd-party plugin, they break the back/forward buttons, they don't work properly with reload or history, nobody else can link to specific pages on them, and they generally make information difficult to find when the whole point of having a web site is to make that information easy to find.
Banners or navigational elements are fine, but don't waste your money getting the entire site done in flash. |

| To add to what diginut said... search engines can't really index your site if it's all flash. You can forget about people finding your site from doing searches unless there are many sites linking to yours and yours link back to them. When it comes to searchablility nothing beats a site with a text based navigation. A good web developer would know how to make one of these website look just as good as a completely flash site. |

Which is exactly why Google search results are always flooded with blogs... :stongue: |

on the contrary, if you have a well built flash site, it can be worth the investment. they can be highly efficient and more room for creative output in terms of communication |

| I would advise against the use of flash unless it's for some small portion of the site where it makes sense to have flash. Think twice before throwing that swf file onto your page. It should enhance the look of the site not be the site. Flash has gotten over used for years because people think it looks cool, when in reality 90% of the time it looks lame. It's annoying, not accessible, and like it has been said here, it actually prevents more important functionality from being there. |

I think flash in a well designed site is good... but I don't enjoy the ALL flash sites anymore.
Something with a little flare is nice ;) |
