Yeah, same here, except it is not every 2 weeks for me but more like once every 4 month. I don't know, just don't have that urge going clubbing anymore....especially since I moved to Suaga. |

I'll tell you this Aren - the more I get into producing, the more I analyze the tracks I listen to and the harder it is for me to just enjoy them at face value. So every now and then I have to take a break from that in order to put things into perspective.
I think a lot of people have slowed down on their clubbing recently though, particularly the ones who party sober. There's just something lacking from the vibe at most parties... IMO there's just too many people who are either ed up or worshipping the DJ, and not enough people dancing or enjoying the music. |
Took the words out of my mouth. Although I still like to party it up once in a while, I don't go out at all. At least not anymore like I used to. I don't think it's the age thing ... as much as it is the VIBE thing for me. I'm finding myself enjoying smaller, more intimate venues as of lately if I do go out, and it's not even to party...but rather to just hang out or chill. Now, if they had an IDance or Party at the CNE again... with some wikkid beats... i'm there again. Otherwise... i don't think i'll be going to Guv. Docks,or any other massive club anytime soon. Although the 9 yr anniversary does look kinda tempting with all that Techno. :p :D |

| I find that I'm really bored of clubbing right now, for a couple of reasons. Mostly, i think, because the type of music that I particularily enjoy isn't what is "popular". I like techno, I don't really like house music (general statement, but it will do for this purpose). Therefore, when I go out to house events to hang out with my friends, I find I'm bored most of the time. The music all sounds the same to me cause I don't care. And I find, furthermore, that the reason i went in the first place was to see my friends, but in clubs, people are usually dancing, facing the DJ. I prefer, if I want to be with my friends, to go somewhere where I can talk to them and be able to hear them easily, like a pub. Or for everyone to get together at someone's house and get drunk and hang out or have a dinner party or something like that. Its hard to have a real conversation in a club. :) But, even for music I do like, I limit what I go to now because no matter what, I find it the same. It can be a different room / dj / whatever, but everything just blends together now. |

For me, it's a slightly different story. I haven't been to an event for over a month, since Matt Darey, and then before that, WEMF.
I have alot going on right now which keeps me busy and I don't get much time to party often. At the same time, I like to go out once in a while, and the music really lifts me up everytime I do go.
The biggest problem for me is the scene itself. It just doesn't interest me all that much. Most of the time, the same DJs keep coming to Toronto and I'm not really into most of them. Or, in the event that I am interested in a certain DJ, the club ends up being completely rammed, and it's not a pleasurable experience.
For example, LoL, I was looking forward to seeing B & J as I've never seen them live before, as well as Avb, but the night ended with my and my friends not getting in because tickets sold out really early on. The management of the whole event was pretty much a mess, and from what I hear, they let in WAY too many people into the club. And months before that in Feb, B & J showed up at the worst time, on a Tuesday :conf: , and it was right in the middle of test time for me too.
Djs that play music which I genuinely like only seem to come every few months or so. Even raves that I used to attend seem to be dying ... it's mostly drum and bass raves I see these days, along with house.
I adore the scene in Europe and Japan, but I do not have the opportunity to go there and experience it ... well not yet anyways.
The more and more I hear about events in Calgary and Vancouver, the more I am liking their scene. They seem to get a nice variety of djs that I like, and who come pretty often.
I eagerly await for the Toronto scene to change, to go in a new direction. Inevitably, house will peak off, and will drop off, and the scene will continue changing. |

some parties ive been to in europe are 10X more packed than any party here has ever been. And my friend in japan tells me it gets packed there too since clubs are smaller than here.
People dont realize how good we have it here when it comes to capacity and cover prices even on big big events. |

| The clubs I went to in Europe were far better than the ones here - better music, better sound system, fair prices, not packed. |

we obviously went to different clubs/events.
the better part about europe for me was the crowds themselves. rammed yes, but wow can they party. The vibe was always amazing. |

Some parties I've heard about have been much less packed. Consider all the outdoor festivals they have compared to us.
Also, if we got half the djs that they get there, I would *gladly* put up with crowds and what not. Same with cover prices. I'm not even complaining about cover prices, but I would gladly pay higher cover if better (or a greater variety) of Djs came to Toronto. Oh, and look at cover for events like Sensation or Dance Valley ... they cost around 50 - 60 Euros, which is around 100 - 120 Can dollars. Lol tickets at the door went for around 65 and up, and WEMF tickets were anywhere from 60 and up. WEMF and LoL do not even come close in comparison to heavyweight European festivals.
Also, another difference is that in Europe people are generally very nice and open, so crowds there are actually a pleasant experience as you can have a lot of fun ;).
Japanese parties I hear can get quite crazy, and the atmosphere is unreal in some of their clubs.
Crowds here, from my experience, are either like zombies, or are hostile and rude when any little thing occurs. |

agreed... crowds here suck ass... its because of the selfishness and "me first" attitude of canadian culture. "dont u dare do one little thing that gets in my way" this isnt just a clubbing thing, its an everyday life issue here.
but i was talking capacity and cover.
Which djs do you want to hear here that dont come to toronto? |
