New Label Up!!! Linear Recordings

For the past few months I have devoted my efforts to starting my own recording label; Linear Recordings. The website is up, and everything is going great! I just have a few questions regarding aspects of cash flows, pressing, distribution, etc. etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
-How many copies for 1st release?
-Cd/Vinyl breakdown; how much of each?
-Distribution companies
-Pressing/publishing companies
-Cost of each copy when being sold to a shop for sale?
-Any other suggestions....
Thanks guys!! By the way, for all of you who recieved a promo CD or business card at the AvB show at Crobar last friday, come check out the website!!
We are looking for new talent, demos and promos are welcome!

you may have wanted to look into these things before officially opening. make it part of your business plan.
vinyl is not cheap to press. and i dont know if there is a specific number you want to press for each track. different tracks will have a different demand.
what type of music is this label going to sign? trance/house/dnb? |

The label will be specializing in Trance, progressive, Tech-trance, and maybe some tasteful techno. The label is partially opened (we're accepting demos and such, but releases will come slowly). We're very small, so our cash flows are mostly shifted toward expenses. We're focusing now on getting that next step completed and getting the logo and name around.

Jump on paid Digital Downloads from the start.
Get an idea for what people want rather than what you want to feed them. Dont release mindless that we have lots of already.

jesus, posting on this forum is a complete waste. Half of the time all I get are these smart ass comments (*cough*charon*cough*RoBDaWG). For those of you who did contribute, thanks, and I'll take some your advice carefully. I came here for help, not to hear some poor schmucks give their two usless cents. And no, its not "just a website" you tool, its a government recognized s-corporation with just a few employees and a little bit of capital; the same way every label is set up. F - off....

| sounds cool man. i have some tech-trance i'm finishing that i don't really know where it fits into... i think a start up label might be good for it. will post in 1.5weeks when its done |
