My boyfriend NEVER says "I love you" when talking to family members on the phone, or even in person. My ex was the same way with his family too. I think that's really weird.
I talk to my dad every other day and we always say, "I love you, I miss you" when we hang up. My family is very affectionate too. I always jump on my dad and give him a huge hug and kiss on the cheek when I visit him and my mom and I live together and we STILL kiss each other on the cheek when I'm leaving to go out for the weekend or something and we say, "Ok bye love you".
I generally do not like talking on the phone at all. The only time I like to blabber about nothing is when I'm in the car on my way to Miami because it's a good 35 minute drive for me, and it makes the time/drive go by fast if I'm yacking with someone. So that's when I usually call my fellow TA's and bull with them for a bit...other than that, I don't like talking on the phone. And I'm usually kinda rude too like echo said...I'm that person who will interrupt a long, detailed story from a friend, and go, "ok ok get to the point". hahaha |

Uh I'm not sure. I don't really enjoy talking on the phone, with some few exceptions.
"ok, vi hörs" is probably the most common (translation: ok, later). |

That affection doesn't fly in my family. I can count on one hand the number of times I've heard my dad say he loves me. It isn't that he doesn't love me but more that he can't bring himself to say it. After years of trying I've finally gotten him to give me a hug when I leave now.... I suppose that's a start. It's odd because I never heard his father tell him that he loved him either but Grampa would always tell me that he loved me..... strange. |

One of the lawyers I deal with a lot says it. Every time he does I want to just scream at him "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW UNPROFESSIONAL THAT MAKES YOU SOUND?" Granted, he and I get along quite well on a personal level but seriously, whether we're friends or not I'm paying the guy $325 an hour, I want to hear him say ciao just about as much as I want to hear him say "peace out my nizzle" |
