Actually using the mixer to mix the songs doesn't require headphones at all, as you have the monitors to guide you...but he had to have used headphones to beatmatch the tracks, which he probably did a few minutes before he actually mixed the song in while you weren't watching. |
not always. it's possible to mix without headphones. monitors are a lot clearer then the floor speakers, so u can bring in the next track very faintly, and beatmatch it in your monitors, and the floor wouldnt hear a thing. |

I've seen more than a few DJ's do this in Buzz's booth alone. , Scott Henry used to do it every once in a while - and he's defnintely no Sasha in the mixing department. I think that if you have talent and you've been DJ'ing for a long time (like 10+ years) it simply becomes second nature. |

no one "beatmatches" like that, ever. If the cued song is loud enough to be heard in the monitors, its loud enough to be heard on the floor, period. Riding the pitch is a different story and thats what you see djs do when they are using the pitch fader and no headphones...thats standard practice for all djs btw, not just Sasha. None of those djs are really beatmatcing though...they're just correcting an imperfect beatmatch. |
