Yeaaa this is prolly the millionth post about headphones, but whatever... :D
So my Sony MVR-D700DJs are broke (as in, the plastic is cracked and the leather is cracked, etc. but still sounds great).
I was looking for new headphones... researched Ultrasone stuff, Sennheiser ones, and some AKG's... Wasn't really thinking about price but comparing sound and dynamic range.
The Sony's dynamic range is 5 - 30,000Hz... Everything else I've seen so far (even $500 or $1000 headphones) does not have a closely comparable range to that. Everything is either 10 or 8 or 15 to 25,000 or 28,000...
Does anyone know any good (don't care about price <$500) headphones that have a wide of a range as the Sony's?!?! :conf: |

mmm rather move up not "go lower"... the 7506 and V6 seem ok, but just kinda look funky and are $60? I trust my money and anything cheaper than the Sony's I got now ain't worth anything comparably even if people say they have "proof" they perform as good |

Maybe you should visit the DJ booth, the V6 are not 'down' from the 700s.
I have them and absolutely love them to bits. Those sentiments are mirrored by a large number of guys there too. Sturdy little mofos, and people who have used both the 700s and V6s say the V6s all over them sound wise. |

mmm i love my grados.
and to the original poster. dont kid yourself about the price of the v6/7506. they are probably the best value in a pair of headphones i can think of. they will stand up to a serious ass kicking. and they sound good out of anything.
if you look around youll find out what a steaming pile of the 700s are. youll never look back.
head-fi
look around here if you have time. thank me later. if you become obsessed with headphnes because of this, its not my fault. |

Ive got Sennheiser 555s. The way they sit on your ears is a bit odd to get used to, but they sound great.
Senn advertises a low frequency bound of 15hz on these. They cost me about 125 with shipping.
Here's a thorough review with alot of pics. |

Hmmm I think I need to find somewhere that has all of these and demo each of them and do some real testing and comparison... Thanks for all the suggestions so far...
I'm not sure if it's me, but I just feel like that since none of the new ones people are suggesting go down to 5Hz that I won't get the deep smooth bass performance that I get with the 700's? but it might just be my thoughts...! |
