All I know is that I go to the club....dance....enjoy the music and go home. I don't care to know the name of the track or who produced it or any of that stuff. I go have a good time and come home. I like it all...some nights I like other styles more then others but overall it is all great. |
bingo..thats the way it should be...occasionally u hear a track u know and love it..
should u hear a really distinct track later, u then know the artist and title
these "trance gods" aka "holy trinity"(as some on TA like to call them:rolleyes: ), 3/4 of the crowd is just itching to trainspot...wtf?? ive seen people with a pen and notepads standing up front taking down the names (seriously) and this just kills the essence of a "party" |

I'll admit that there have been times when seeing Armin that I found myself just too tired to dance and it's quite possible it may have been that the sound was just not energizing enough..
That being said.. it doesn't mean that that I didn't enjoy what I was hearing. Like someone said, there is a time and place for everything.. and when I go to see AVB that is exactly what I expect to hear :)
However, say all you want about Tiesto.. I have never stopped dancing during his sets. He may not mix great but I think he delivers the energy and has enough variety to keep me moving all night long!

I mean I tend to differ a bit. I like to give credit if someone makes a good track. But in terms of going there and having a good time is what its all bout. Who cares about the DJ anyways, his job is to play music thats it. And there are plenty of them around right here in TO who do it just as good as anyone. As long as they can bring their own flavour and eenergize the floor, its a done deal. Most of the time they are playing other peoples music anyways.
In terms of people taking notes Ive never seen that yet but that is pretty lame. I mean who cares if a DJ's mix is of by 0.000002% pitch, its not a test lab. |

Very true, but would you agree AVB and Tiesto are almost the reps. of trance these days? |
Yes i would say they are the reps right now, but that to me, doesnt mean anything because a genre always has to have a rep. When you say, what does it sound like, you always point to a certain artist or DJ to show the way.
They may give you an idea about what is played, and how, but by no means do they define the genre.
And as for trainspotting, i do it with my digi cam, just because the songs are soo good. I love to see the different crowd reactions to different songs, and sometimes i like to capture that `momment` in time, because it will never be recreated.
Although i do agree that too much credit is given to a DJ for the songs they play, i say not enough can be given for the FEELING they help to produce over a night. A lot of people want that warm fuzzy feeling they get when listeing to trance, hence the popularity of that sound. |

Goddamn it, I've only been here a short little while, but I'm ing fed up with these threads already. You like underground Trance? Great. You and your few buddies can circle jerk each other thinking of how elite you all are. But please don't come in here and diss everybody else's tastes. I don't go and create 'Ewwww.. whoever listens to Tech Trance sucks cock' threads. I respect your tastes, so why can't you respect mine? No, I don't go to see AVB cause he's popular. I go cause I like what he spins and because I know I can just dance my ass off without worrying about all the people standing in the back scoffing at how cheesy the songs he's playing are. Nobody made you come there. You didn't like it? Don't come again. It isn't hard to figure out. I went to see Sasha, and wasn't too impressed. He's not my style. But I still don't go and go into every thread where Sasha is mentioned and diss the people who like him.
Forgive me for being vulgar, but this needs to stop. If we don't respect each other, this place is gonna fall apart (the way it's already starting to).
Maybe you're on the wrong forum, but I know I'm in the right one.
Once again, forgive me for flying off the handle like that. |
