| I didn't read this whole thread, but surely somebody posted previously...that you couldn't even hope to define trance by one track :wtf: |

I feel it should be a tune pre 2000...from when trance was @ it's peak/greatest period of growth. I also don't think it should be remix of another tune - it has to be an original.
Very hard to decide, but I'd go for one of the following:
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
Solar Stone - Seven Cities
Rank 1 - Airwave
Chicane - Saltwater
But I also can see how people would easily pick something like Carte Blanche, Synaesthesia etc. Guess it really comes down to personal opinion...we all have that one tune which really defines trance for us.
I'd also query whether you can count something like Xpander as trance...
Oh, and Exploration of Space would be hard trance.
I'd say Delerium - Silence (ISOS) would be the most recognisable trance tune, however there are so many amazing formative trance tracks pre 2000...ISOS is merely building on them.
I'm not explaining myself this morning...hopefully you can understand me! |

I'm rather surprised that someone can mention Airwave or Silence (ISOS remix) as tunes that defines trance. Post-2000 trance have more or less lost the trancy vibe which was so present in the sound in the early trance tunes, hence why it got it's name "TRANCE". In which of the tunes you mentioned can you find that hypnotic trancy feeling as in tunes such as Vernon - Vernons Wonderland and Zyon - No Fate?
So no, trance IMO should not be defined by any post-2000 tunes. It should be defined by tunes before 1997. |

I don't know if this argument is going to work for this guy;
He doesn't think Xpander is trance. :wtf: |
