as much as i love synaesthesia, perception is really dreamy, so it should just win ;) |

heh i can't bring out something too obscure, it'd scare everyone away, so I throw in the 'well known' & leave it at that :toothless |

doesn't have to be obscure. just go for the tune when ppl here it thinks THIS IS TRANCE. Not like "oh this is like a fusion of late 90s eurodance topped with progressive house and epic trance" |

Danger! Danger!
You can't define trance with a single track. That necessarily forces a label which covers many different sounds upon a single production, leading to subjective opinions and pointless arguing. In other words, flamebait. |

WATCH YOURSELF!
You could say that every Trance track is the definition of Trance, because any track that doesn't fit the definition of Trance wouldn't be Trance. If you follow. |

| I always have a hard time answering this type of question. To me there really isnt one song that can completely embody what trance is, or any type of edm for that matter. For example, if a friend were to ask me what trance is, there isnt one song that I can play that will convey what trance really is. I have my alltime favs that I might play (Jam and Spoon - Stella, for instance) but nothing that I think defines a genre entirely. Just my thoughts anyway. |

Moloko - the Time Is Now (Matt Darey mix)
Aurora - In My Skin (Vincent de Moor mix)
hands down, no contest. |

Well, you mentioned Fragma. That renders your reply invalid as well.
I had a huge-ass message here, but pressed the wrong button. So suffice to say my two bets for songs that define modern (NOT the overly cheesy and epic kind) trance are Chicane - Offshore and BT - Flaming June. You can't find a track more "melodic trance" than Flaming June. |
