WOW! Just what the doctor ordered!!! I danced non-stop from 11pm-5:30am. My body is going to kill me after I wake up. hehe
The music was just insane, dirty, filthy, and uning believable. The music was so good that I didn't even want to go outside for air. lol
I saw Sean Miller @ Boa, in Toronto b4, and I didn't enjoy him back then, but TONIGHT... GODDAM, he rocked! I think he's playing @ Basic soon, so I'm defenitely going to go check him out again!! He's so adorable too hehe!! And Lawler was everything I imagined him to be! :eyespop: Can't wait till he is back in LA again!
I enjoyed everyone's company that I was there with!! And thank you Simon from protecting us from all the freaks!!! :toothless |

Heres a better review:
Tigo and I get into Avalon at 10 something. Theres music playing but the dj booth is hidden by curtains, the whole place is DARK and SCARY.
They threw these canvases over the dance floor, like spider webs, making a big low ceiling, but it was hi enough that the DJ was in full view, and low enough so that you could see the DJ from upstairs. It was CRAZY.
The dj booth was SICK and had these long red velvet drapes on each side, with huge poster/canvases with the Lights Out 3 hands logo.
I knew with this scenery Lawler was just gonna kill it. Sean opened from about 11:30 to 12:45, then Lawler came on.
His intro was nuts...then he dropped the first bassline of the night and it just went nuts from then on. His programming and mixing are gorgeous, and he even threw in some fun EFX Unit edits here and there...
I LOVE the way lawler mixes...he mixes in a little late always so that you hear the tracks mixing and then BLAM he drops into a new bassline...its just nuts!
Only track I recognized from him was Criss Source - Hugs N Kisses, and some track from LO3 that I dont remember the name of, but its SICK! I think bas got a few more...but I heard SOOO much DIRTY/TRIBAL/Electro that I have never heard ANYWHERE :eyespop:
I LOVED lawler in june but this set topped it...not so much in the tracks but they way they were put together and they way Lawler would mix...so fun to watch a great DJ again...
And then, Lawler signed off around 3:30 -> 4am and Sean Miller got back on...first we thought they were gonna tag-team, but Lawler dissapeared...but two tracks into Sean I was just like...FUUUUCK THIS GUY IS LAYING DOOOOWN! I've never even heard of him and he played almost aswell if not better than Lawler, although his mixng wasnt as clean, it was still very good. He dropped MV - Mr. Robato and that was the only one I recognized...but EVERY TRACK was SICK and I didnt know any of them!
Sick night at Avalon...I had a great time...nice to see a bunch of Lawler n00bs out :p |

I got it...but I want the other 20 SICK tracks he dropped that I have no clue what they are...there were a few I remember saying to you "omfg I need this track like RIGHT NOW" :wtf:

i still got it! man i've been playing that for a while, all these big djs need to stop stealing my tracks :o
sean miller played twice? i didn't like him so much after lawler, he had me with his first track haji & emanual - take me away. but that fool didn't play the vocals!! they're so fun! didn't stay too long after that, apparantly we all wanted to stay but thought that everyone else wanted to leave. so we checked out early...got home and said "why did you want to leave? what? i didn't want to leave? neither did you?....crap :("

| i give whomever props for making avalon look like a haunted house last night. with the spiderweb-like canopies stretching about 10 feet above your head, and black light luminating from the top, it seems like you are dancing in another planet. the dancefloor was noticeably darker making it a perfect setting for dark progressive. im an insomniac from last night and my heart is still beating at a 100 miles per hour. if lawler was already this good, im itching for james holden on the 22nd. i need more dark ! :toothless |
