Gatecrasher (pg. 2)

The problem with Passion is its in the middle of nowhere.

I used to live in Birmingham and trekked over there a few times via coach/train - taking nearly 3hrs trip sometimes to go just over 50 miles.

I also lived in Holland at the start of this year - travelling there by plane/train/coach/local bus/taxi and still took god knows how long to get there.

Thats why it stayed underground. And completely unique to TRANCE HEADS :)

Even Gods these days has 'diverse' bookings to make sure it covers the bills of being an internationally successful business.

And that is the key. Crasher was overtaken by Gods when they attempted to corner a part of the market first in Ibiza and then in USA. Both were not really ready for it. They chose the wrong location to host a party in Ibiza, and didnt return after getting burnt.
Then in USA they didn't commit as well as Gods managed to by swallowing up Spundae.

Due to that - i think more than anything they were forced to look to refresh their sound... as they had no other way to start gaining revenue again!

Finally, to the topic starter - Gatecrasher:Experience wasn't the third CD from Gatecrasher... you might like to check :Red & :Black which superceded the :Wet compilation ;)

Seconded.

I know you can't relate Mike, but hey... I went to Tiesto in February... and they were carrying people out over clubbers' heads (and that was in the balcony! nm the main floor!)

I'd like to see any of the clubs nowadays actually fill out for the 'sound' of trance.

Even Gods etc. is completely dead if one of the top 10 aren't in attendance.

:haha: Far cry from the days when Crasher could simply refuse you entry for wearing the wrong shirt or shoes.. cos they knew it was so busy & popular.

an example of how rap music that has no solid meaning behind it has evolved into a giant.

I said '3cd compilation' not 3rd :stongue: ive heard them all except Red

I just cant believe how RnB managed to infect my only escape... that gets played in everyones ears all the time, its the worst genre known to mankind  if this is what you all consider to be 'geting with the times' then im sorry... but im stuck in the days before that completely pretentious genre began sticking its fingers in every pie...

you also need to remember that gatecrasher is just the promotions company that held a night at the republik, republic (sp?) club

i'm sure any current nights there are a result of the 2 parting ways if i'm not mistaken?

i think the night at the club is done, but isn't gatecrasher summer sound system still going?
MichaelBoogerd!
I always believed Simon Raine was in charge of both.

SSS went up in 2002 (or around then?)

i think you're thinking of 'crasher'... which is the name for gatecrashers trance events nowadays, still going, but they only hold an event about once every month @ various venues. such as n-ice, the northern soundsystem events, nu crasher, crasher classics etc... simon raine still owns it i believe, just focuses more on discotheque & GC1 nights these days.

or if it's a classics night ;)

Gatecrasher has rebranded itself and is opening small clubs around the country. One has just opened in Leeds called Discotheque and while nearly every night is about funky house, rnb etc about once a month they have a good trance line-up. Tonight I'm going to see Judge Jules and Riley and Durrant. Could be better obviously but its better than nothing at all. You really have to look to either Godskitchen or your clubs in London if you want regular trance which is a shame. My local trance night called Promise used to be weekly, then went monthly and just this week has closed down. However I am going to regular trance parties at least twice a month and loving it! You just have to be prepared to travel around a bit! As for gatecrasher they also have classics nights on, i went to one at a club in leeds and it was one of the best nights of my life! They dont do the summer sound system anymore but they have some arena events for example they have a big arena event on NYE. Should be excellent! The days where trance filled clubs week in week out without even having particularly big names has unfortunately gone, i missed out but am still enjoying trance around the UK! It's not dead it's just not at the same heights as it has been, lets hope it doesn't deteriorate any further!
