i wanna quit smoking...help!

Ok so I have been smoking for over a month now. I used to smoke like a year ago, but I temporarily quit. I got stressed out as soon as I moved to Toronto, and decided to start again. I REALLY wanna quit, and I've been trying....but I just can't!! Whenever I finish a pack, I tell myself, "Ok katie that's enough. NO MORE SMOKING!" and the next day i find myself buying another pack. Do you guys have any suggestions for me?

-ask for a pack with the picture on it that grosses you out the most.
-Smoke cigarettes as FAST as you can pull back on the drags and try to finish the cigarette in less than 1 minute. Hopefully this will have the effect of making you feel very sick and start to associate smoking with feeling craptastic instead of relaxed and good. You have to break the positive association of the addiction.
-try going running more often... you want to smoke as much.
-Give your smokes away to someone else at the end of partying so you don't have them the next day/ week... out of sight, out of mind. (well at least a bit)

quit down # of smokes a day . i have from 6-8 a day to 1-2 day , start thinking about the money your spending on wasting your health can be invested in a gym membership , and eat healthy and drink lots of water.

In you free time try reading or getting involved in your breaks with your work or co-workers. takes ur mind of smoking . try not to party too much and hang out less with smokers.

Anytime you feel the urge to have a cigarette, try chewing a piece of gum (sugarless, of course!). I have a friend that does this and she hasn't smoked for a few years now...

everytime i quit smoking (3 times, 3rd time was the final time) Id do it cold turkey....I started up the first times again because I started smoking when I went out drinking, socially, that was it...then, i started smoking more and more....quit cold turkey for another 2 years, then picked it up again whenever I went partying. That lasted about a year, then I quit again cold turkey b/c I was dating somebody who didnt smoke and he hated it when I smoked around him...so I just stopped altogether, wasnt a big loss to me...

In order to quit coldturkey tho, you have to WANT to do it....if you want to quit, you'd be able to do it.

If you want to quit you have to WANT to quit. Dont try, lie to yourself, just do it. You have to completely change your routine, habits (the after meal smoke was the hardest for me), and stay away from all things smoke related. I also found that drinking lots of water, and chewing gum helps to calm you. Also try to be more proactive, do more things that are good for your body, and you'll feel worse when you smoke and see how much of a negative effect it's really making on you. I hope this helps. ;)

I know how to stop you....Tie you down and leave you there till you just give up...oh wait i can get in trouble for that cant i :S

All i can say is will power :) never smoked ever dont ever plan on it....sorry if that doens't help.

let someone you know, punch you in the face as hard as they can whenever they see you smoking. you'll quit in no time.

Occupy your mind with something else. Every time you get a urge to smoke distract yourself and do something you really like to do besides smoking. I am trying to quit myself. Almost been a week and i have had only 6 ciggies in past 6 days, and all them 6 ciggies were at clubs lolz. Go figure eh. At home or at work i either just loose myself into music or i eat lolz. Chewing gum helps too so does holding a pencil or something in your fingers while ur craving. Good luck to yas :D.
