Theres one complaint I have about UFC now versus UFC in the past... and thats the rounds.
For those people that have watched the very first UFC bouts, I loved the 15 minutes of non-stop fighting - it was just precious. |
It kinda sucks they ahd to put all the rules in but its the only way it can survive. It sucked when there would be a fight and they'd take it to the ground for an hour or 2.
and is the ufc show on tonight again? |

Well, back in the day... there were alot more wrestlers, grapplers and submission fighters - there werent alot of contact fighters. For example, as big as Shamrock was in '95, he was a submission fighter and not a standup fighter. |

i don't know how u can compare a man's fortitude by having him gun down someone who brings only his blood and flesh.
And yes, a lot of MMA fighters are also trained in their own street fighting variatios that include defenses against guns, bottles, knives, etc. Bas Rutten has many stories of fighting using his bare hands against weapons of all shapes and sizes. |

| Actually, my Judo/Sambo sensai taught us how to defend ourselves from knives, guns and various other street weapons. |

That wouldn't be necessary, because you're stupid enough that you'd just shoot yourself in the foot anyway. |

Look at it this way, unless youre standing 200ft. away from someone, youre in touching distance. Those people that know how to defend themselves have a much larger attack radius than those that dont know what they are doing. But... Im almost certain you couldnt hit a parked car from 200 ft. with a gun, forget about a moving target coming to get you - you'll be too busy ting yourself thinking about the guy coming for you. |

| staedlter, your a tool... I happen to be pretty good at MMA, but what I really excel at is killing people with guns and explosives, in fact my team whacked a guy last night.. so what did you do last night? eating cheetos on the couch and watching seinfield don't count for much. |

I'm a pretty big MMA fan. I've followed both Ultimate Fighter series. I personally liked season 1 better. I'm looking forward to seeing Sanchez Vs Diaz this Fri night, Nov 5th. Remember this Friday is the season final of Ultimate Fighter 2 on Spike TV. Then of course is UFC 56 on Nov 19th which I'm really looking forward to.
I watch Pride too but I like UFC better personally because elbows are allowed. However with Pride you can stomp a downed opponent which can be pretty interesting to watch as well. Anyone see Pride 30? That Ken Shamrock knockout was lame. Like he said, an opponent should finish you. Before that, I watched Pride Bushido Tournament on Sep 25th. Did anyone see that? It had Phil Baroni in it. The clip of him talking before the fight is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I'm going to try and just cut out that 3 mintues segment from the show and post it. He talks so much , then goes on to lose the fight. |
