nice enjoyable track you got here.
although lacking a nice long note bass to fill it out i like the vibe. its quite background style music that id expect to hear in a classy upbeat bar/restaurant.
i would give it more of a bassy feel with another bass note in the background. 5:53 - i love the overall sound. it s got a lot more emotion with the strings and 'crystal e.p' sound in there. id introduce these more gradually throughout the track so they are present for more of the track.
nice and original style

About time you kicked out a new one! Finally took some time off from the titties eh? :thepirate
Nice funky groove, and the melodic layers you've put in make it perfect for those early-night club sessions. I've gotta say I'm impressed that you're able to consistently put out this quality using only Reason!
It could use a little more low end - I think just a simple eq and/or parametric compressor on the master oughta do it. The clap also sounds just a tad filtered - I'd give it a bit more low/low-mid end. Otherwise good work! |

Those are some great tips Rich. I like your idea about gradually introducing some of the melodic components earlier on. In regards to the bass/low end, I think I may revisit that as it has come up before. Thanks for the feedback!

More like the titties took some time off from me :(
Thanks for a very useful review Aaron. I still have a lot to learn about Compression and Limiting and even EQ'ing... I've been winging it, turning knobs without knowing what I'm actually doing. Fortunately, some guy took it upon himself to structure and provide a very organized, detailed and friendly master list of tutorials covering this matter and I'm exploring those whenever I get the chance! I've got a lot of learning to do.
As good a time as I'm having with Reason, I'm strongly considering moving onto something else... possibly Logic. Thanks again Aaron!

Hey man
Got round to listening to this today - had it on the ipod so got a good listen :D
I like the bass line a lot - especially the one with loads of delay - reminds me of Underworld - Bigmouth.
Has excellent atmosphere like Toad does...with the chords and the melodies that fade in and out. Percussion is nice too...some people might think this boring - but I think its pretty amazing work - so many subtle sounds keep it interesting.
Excellent work :) |
