Denver marijuana initiative passes

DENVER - Voters in Denver have passed a measure that makes it legal for residents over the age of 21 to possess up to an ounce of marijuana.
The measure, known as Initiated Question 100, was leading by a margin of 53% to 47% with 96% of the votes tabulated.
Opponents have said that it will have no practical effect because it would be trumped by Colorado state law.
However, 9News political analyst Floyd Ciruli says it would send a powerful message to groups around the country working to decriminalize marijuana.
He said one reason the measure passed may be because opponents presumed it didn't have a chance and were more focused on other campaigns like Referenda C and D.
Meantime, voters in Telluride narrowly defeated a proposal to move marijuana possession down the priority list of offenses for local law enforcement. Meantime, voters in Telluride narrowly defeated a proposal to move marijuana possession down the priority list of offenses for local law enforcement.
Final-but-unofficial totals show the measure failed 332 to 308.

| Today we legalise marijuana, tomorrow it will be heroin and on Saturday we'll be allowed to marry our animals. Did you ever stop to consider our inevitable slippery-slope towards hell as you stampeded towards the polling-booths in support of this nefarious weed, good citizens of Colorado? WHERE WILL THE MADNESS END NOW, HUH? :( |

Please tell me that you're joking.
If not, I don't even know what to say to your brainwashed ass, as you've obviously got no clue personal or even 2nd hand experience with marijuana if you're equating it with shooting up. It's just not worth arguing with some people because there's no rational logic or proof to back it up. :(
Also, when did drug use become a damn-worthy offense? Jesus and the Jews drank wine, which is a drug last time I checked. |

| There are plenty of places in the world where you could smoke. I think it's better when cops don't give a than when they make it legal. In Switzerland the cops turn their backs on it for the most part as long as you do it away from people, like by your house or the park or something. In NYC i've noticed it's very much like that too, people smoke in alot of places and not always secluded or anything. Now, if the cops stop a 21 year old in Denver now with a pound or w/e it was how do they know he's not going to sell it to 12 year old kids? |
