First off, I'm not sure if this should belong in here, but this PC will be used predominantly for Final Scratch as my current one is probably older than Cher, so I figured it qualifies for the DJ Booth.

So for all you ub3r 1337 d00ds out there, which, if any, is the better purchase? I'm assuming they will all be made using cheap and nasty parts, but I'm not really up to date on the difference between processors and whatnot. The difference in hard drive size doesn't really bother me. Does the 64 bit chip make that much of a difference?
Cheers for any help in advance. |

I wouldn't buy any of those just because the onboard video hogs the external RAM. Also, it's probably a crap motherboard.
All of them are good, even the cheap one, and will definately get you through FS.
I know somebody who runs FS like 1.1 in linux on a 333mhz processor and it runs as good as a 64bit 3200+ |

| I'd only recommend choice one because it's not an AMD. |

The AMD 64 bit 3200+ has the integrated features to Equal a Intel 3.2ghz processor. Plus AMD is better & cheaper. |

When they're not catching fire. |

:haha:
How many procoessors have you seen "catch on fire" or blow up? The only time i've seen it, is when they took the fan/heatsink off and overclocked it & ran like doom 3 and it literally just like discintegrated. |

| in terms of buying a laptop for similar uses (FS or Ableton) correct me if I'm wrong, but the important specs are the onboard memory and the gghz right? I'm in the market for a laptop, and admittedly don't know too much about them... |

| I guess with a laptop, you should aim for a PENTIUM 4 (HT) processor....and not a Pentium M or Pentium celeron. The P4 will have the most computing power...although, it might be a heavier machine and the batter might not be as long lasting. |

definitely go for p4. the ty battery life/heavier issues are nothing compared to the extra processessing power (especially if FS/SSL gets glitchy and you dont want any drop outs, skips, etc)

that can be changed anyway.
umm, pentium 4 is old technology, u need to consider some of the newer chipsets on the market. Although they may have lower HZ listed, the newer chips means that the computer is more efficient, and in reality can actually be faster than something from an older P4, or celeron chipset. I'm not too familiar with the newer chipsets, u gotta do ur own research there. sorry.
but, in all honesty, my 2.2Gig celeron with 702MB ram does the job easily without fail. i can even play 3-4 year old computer games in teh background if i wanted, ha ha.
if ur gonna get a USB soundcard, get one with onboard RAM (if such things exist with USB models, i don't know).
most important thing u need to consider is RAM. i'd recommend 700MB+. The ideal would be 1 Gigabyte. but 512Mb minimum should be surrvivable, if u close all ur other programs, or if ur other specifications in the computer are good.
sorry, i didn't look at ur links, but u should be able to make ur own decision from wat i've given u. |

#1 Choice:
No, its a desktop.
#2 Choice:
No, its a desktop.
#3 Choice:
No, its a desktop.
All you need is a dedicated laptop (meaning you dont use it for anything else, not even porn) with about 1.8 Ghx centrino, 1 GB + of ram, and at least 120gb harddrive, and firewire for fs2. you dont even need a good soundcard, the scratch amp does it all.
The rest is all gravy, becase any laptop with those specs is gonna have probably a decent soundcard, cdr maybe dvdr, etc etc etc.
Im running on less and im doing good.
If you ever wanna go mobile, a desktop is wasting your time! |

eeek, P4 is the last thing id chose, The PM architechture is leaps and bounds better than P4, avoid P4 and stick with PM |
