to switch to c:\ type

but you don't have to be under c:\ to use ping.
oh...
and being the network admin, i can say IT people at your company do deserve their paycheck;)... i've completely blocked all our guys' instant messaging capabilities too:p |

| also... if you like your job more than instant messaging, i suggest you stop that , because most of the admins, who block IM, also put the special note into "acceptable computer use policy" basically stating that IM is the violation of that policy and can be the grounds to fire you:D |

:eyespop: OMG...Please please please please please, tell me how you do this. |
Do the following on your home PC
start-> control panel->system->remote
Make sure that allow users to connect remotely is checked. Know your PC's IP address and make sure your firewall will allow it (if you only use windows firewall you wont have an issue.)
On your work PC do the following:
start ->accessories->communications->remote desktop connection.
The joys of XP. And for all you haters out there.... suck one. |

Even better:
Use whatever you want, but leave your corporate e-mail or whatever you're "supposed" to be doing open maximized in the background. Keep your mouse hovered over the program in the background. When someone's coming, just click. Voila, the program is maximized and you're a good little peon. |
Ummmm alt+tab works much faster.... |
|

Alt + tab is much faster than a single click.

It is... if you think that you should only chat while having your mouse constantly over a button.... what happens if you happen to move it? |
