Question about Studio Monitors.

The Truth 2031a monitors seem to get great reviews from people in a DJing aspect, which is good, but how good are they for production because I eventually want to produce alittle in the future.
Primary option is the Event TR8XL.
Thanks in advance.

New Question:
How important is the size of the woofer when buying studio monitors? Are 8" better than the 6 or 5"? I raise this question because BT raves about the BX5a monitors with the 5" woofer. Do the smaller woofers make the music any cleaner or crisper?
I will be using them for DJing and later on for some producing. My budget is $600 if you guys want to suggest anything to me. |

They are a bit false in the lower freqs.
Other than that... it's all up to what you feel is best for you.
But they sound really good... |

i agree, go and hear them |

I wouldn't recommend them. Although their frequency-response is quite linear, they still dont sound "right". I have bought the Tannoy Reveal Actives (the old model fo the A5 i think it is), and they sound real nice, and play clean at a decent volume as well.
Just my 5 cents. |

Don't spend your money on Behringer products. I had B2031A's and the tweeter shortcircuited in less then a year. I never played them loud and only used them in a studio. Customer support is non-existant, and the quality of the monitors is low. These are actually not monitors but expensive consumer grade speakers. |

That is a hell of a way to put it and for that reason, I think Ill just get the Events.
Has anyone ever had a problem with Event monitors? Because I dont ever recall anyone saying they had issues with them. |

best monitors for the price:
M-Audio Audiophile BX5a and BX3a
BT raves about them:

"My whole new thing now is 5.1. I’m never going back. I got those little M-Audio BX5 monitors —those are incredible. People who are totally into high-end home theater come to my studio and are like, ‘What the hell are these speakers?’ People I turn on to these things are dumping their $10,000 systems. Those little speakers and a sub are my favorite speakers in the world. It’s over; I’ll never mix in stereo again.
“I’m doing stutter edits in quad now, it’s insane. I’m definitely doing 5.1 mixes on my next record. It’s exactly what I’ve always wanted for listening to music. It takes it outside of being just an experience, and makes it more like being put in a place. It’s like being immersed in the music.” |
I thought he was just doing a promo for M-Audio but I ended up buying them. I compared BX5A's alongside $1200/ea ADAM monitors - we did extensive testing and in all aspects, they sounded virtually identical! I picked up a pair of BX5A's for only $300 and sold my Mackie HR824s.
Word of advise: don't buy behringers - they are crap and have inconsistent quality. Also, they tend to be too bright and your ears will tire quickly. |

^ i use the event tr-6 and highly recommend them! they sound very accurate, and combined with my presonus firebox, producing music has become a joy. I can hear everything through these speakers! there is slight colourization in the high, but for this price range, you're not going to get "perfectly flat" speakers. my personal preference, i liked them way better then the m-audios, krk, samsung, and behringer in the price range. event i found more accurate after instensively demoing them in the store on well known tracks. |
