actually as i was watching today, they were celebrating thanksgiving. And as the show that was on at the time ended, after they were relaying what they were thankful for, one of hte guys said right into the camera, "stay in school, and dont let a job interfere with you fathers out there, you have to raise your babies, be men"
so not only were they teaching values to the urban black population (seeing how he was telling them to pay their child support, you KNOW it was the black ppl:stongue: ) they were giving their thanks to what god gave them... cant say thats bad
and dont say that those are stupid moral values... and BET constantly gives tips around college exam times on how to be a good student and how to study... so don't say its full of "gangsta gangstas" holla-ing G UNIT all day... its entertainment and actual lessons from respectable people.. and then 106 &park.. as for that it's just plain fun...
so BET doesnt deserve to be banned.. plus i cant get enough of freestyle fridays :happy2: |

what positive message comes out of professional wrestling? what about shows like V.I.P.? how about soft-core porn? jeez, how about Fox news?
should all of those be banned too because *you* don't like them or their message?
I think BET is mainly garbage too...any time I flip by, it's either stand up comedy or hip hop/rap related shows...so it's hardly living up to its potential or serving some noble purpose for it's audience, just as *many* specialty channels fail to do so...but banning it would be ridiculous. |

Since when is having a positive message a prerequisit for obtaining a license to broadcast? If we're going to ban things for not being positive I believe that most of what we all love will be banned. |

As concerning yout other message, go on watching B.E.T. I dont give a damn what they do on their channel and behind the scenes. What irritates me is what it represents. Which is black people feel that they are that special that they deserve their own channel based on the colour of their skin. Its stupid, the channel is stupid, everyone who watches it is stupid. |

Wow, that's a bold statement! I'm not a BET watcher nor am I a fan of anyone having a sense of entitlement but I'm not sure the existance of BET equates to black people feeling special. Truth is there is a demand for it so someone provides it.
BTW, do you resent Latinos, Francophones, golfers, gardeners, women, hockey fans, etc. because they have their own chanels too? |

BET exists because there is a market for it, plain and simple.
Same reason goes for any 'special' channel. |

good point there dude,I just dont get why black people have to have their own channel?are they any better then everyone else? Do jewish people have their own channel?what would the reaction be if had a channel called "The white channel"?
They always complain that they want to get treated the same or that they dont have the same rights and such but yet they seperate themselves from everybody else.Even the ads on that channel is all black models it is like everything has to be black or else they wont play it.Why is that? |

It's true.
Thats the hypocrisy about political correctness. It's ok to have blacks only channels but if we had a "white entertainment television" it would be racist.
Although things are improving. Men's channels are finally becoming a reality even though women's groups tried to stop SPIKE tv from being aired in Canada. Actually they are still trying to take it off the air.
Such bullcrap. |
