GAH 10% is huge!!!!

To my knowledge, we havent had any returns yet.

But if its really 10% they are in trouble!

I cashed in nicely selling a few units via Ebay on Tuesday. Can't wait for the Playstation 3 release this May :)

I woulda LOVED to hear the reaction of people working at Sony... I'm sure they're celebrating! And then they'll probably hire some more beta testers to ensure this doesn't happen to them!!! :p

Looks like I'll be waiting till the 2nd gen consoles come out....

I'm glad I waited to buy the 360.

Honestly, I do not think this is a big deal. I think one of the reasons it crashes, is because it has no moved away from a pure console, to more of an entertainment unit. It does so many other things. Just like windows, something is bound to go wrong.

The other thing is, with so much hype around launch, buzz and expectations are running high. Any isolated incident can be heard around the world through the web.

Microsoft estimates is going to have sold 3million xbox360s in 3 months. So I am guessing, these exaggerated defective numbers will be brought into perspective with some time.

I'm quite happy with my original Xbox....
I've never had a problem with it....knock on wood....
Man i would be SUPER pissed if my new console was effin up...
How is it that i can still run my NES console fine and these ppl at Microsoft can't seem to get this new thing right?? TOO MUCH TECHNOLOGY i'm telling ya... it just blows up in ppls faces...

what you want to establish though, is whether or not the problem is due to random glitch with the hardware (which is on a per-unit basis), the software being run at the time (is it a particular game crashing?) or the system software/OS

if it's the latter, that is baaaaad news for a console

The NES had problems sometimes but it was almost always tracked down to particular buggy games (bad programming) or dust problems with cartridge/inside of console

i had been skeptical of MS in the console biz seeing their past "obscurity is security" mindset towards their operating system. but I must admit xbox wasnt nearly as bad as my paranoid self expected.

should be interesting times one way or the other

It's expected. And from what I've heard the graphics aren't all that stellar. For a console, they're great, but still not up to par with top-end PCs. And for a console with that much power, that's kind of questionable.

It costs about $500 USD to produce 1 Xbox360 console, and it's sold for 299-399...how much do top-end PC's go for, with video cards in the 700 range? Obviously a top-end PC is gonna be better, mainly in higher resolution.

Plus, give developers some time to learn how to program for the console.
