I just got back from crobar and I feel compelled to vent/share. Liquid Todd, Paul Oakenfold and Seb Fontaine were playing.
I got there a little after midnight, Liquid Todd was spinning. His set was ok, I didn't like it that much, but people were having fun, and he was having fun and i dont know what the rest of his set sounded like. I saw him a while ago, playing with Oakenfold as well, and that night he had a great set, so I'll give him credit.
Then around 1:00 or 1:30, Oakenfold showed up. Oakenfold is a lazy, sloppy bastard. His set lacked flow to say the least. Twice he dropped the mix on the floor. The first time it happened he just faded out whatever was playing and faded the next track in. The second time, he rammed the previous track with the new one and made little attempt to fix things. In addition, his mannerisms suggest that he is either witnessing the miraculous second coming, or having a heart attack. To add insult to injury, when he finally did something useful and left the stage, a bunch of people in the front were bowing to him in appreciation. WTF, are they deaf?
Some time between 3:30 and 4:00, Seb Fontaine got behind the decks. He had a great set. I have not heard him mix before. This set was awesome. Great energy, great flow. It was far and away the highlight of the night. |

| Now don't go thinking that I'm hating on Oakenfold for no reason. His Tranceport CD got me into Electronica in the first place and his Essential Mix tour in 1999, or 2000 had great sets. Lately however he's lost his edge. The only thing he's good for is to increase the price of admission for the event. |

I agree that his mixing suxed. I think he was too stoned to mix (I dont know if you have noticed his wierd dancing, moving like a drunk dancer). He not only dropped the mix, but also had many off-beat mixings.
However, Oakenfold played some stuff from the old times. Less house, more trance. I was suprised that he dropped several Ibiza anthems from the early 2000s. I think Oakenfold didnt suceed to build his new image so he is trying to came back with his old one, which in my opiniog, brought him to the electronica scene and is much better!
I had a really great time. The athmosphere was a little bit chilled, not many people and no lasers :(( but the music he played made up for all of these mistakes.
Some of the songs he played (Please add more):
David Guetta - The World Is Mine
Armin Van Buuren and Gabriel & Dresden - Zocalo
Solar Stone - Seven Cities
Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun
Three Drives - Greece 2000
Tiesto - Traffic |

The same way Pdiddy has fans. Some ppl just cant tell good music from and go to see them because of the name and not his skills. |

| okay i'm a huge oakenfold fan (didn't go last night) but is there ONE set where he DOESN'T play traffic? i mean i guess he can play it every time if he wants, but it just seems that as a global scale dj you should play different songs at some point. ;) |

Oaky was a joke..
Todd was decent
Seb saved the night. The guy was possessed. Relentless beats coming from the ground up. This is my first time seeing him and definitely won't be my last.
Highlight of the night - That P.I.L.L.S soong he droped at 6 am:crazy: |
