See now..that's exactly the point...when we write a review it should be done responsibly. It should be about the artist and the vibe.
Not a negative personal comment about a room.
And I think that's the point that is being missed here. Comments like that...are definately not kewl coming from a TA.
Newayz..it's time to move
I'm getting tired of getting pm threats about how I will not be respected bc my personal opinion (LOL this is something illnada and Jen defends so highly) goes against theirs. |

Cassidy should be happy to hear that you don't consider him to be someone you personally know.
and re: "but when i was in there Addy was blah...."
hmmm Addy was done spinning before 2am and the entrance to the Guv didn't open till after that..so I suppose that statement is actually meant about Sydney Blu's contribution.

AGAIN I SHALL REPEAT THIS
The majority of the Gallery was comprised of TA's from TO, London, Ottawa and UK.
There comes a time when a person has to take responsibility for their opinions.

Very good point..but I don't see illnada taking back anything.
Re: just write damn reviews and keep your comments to yourself!"
Agreed! That is something that should be followed. You guys go first. |

I agree wholeheartedly. |

Sorry Junior I party without drugs unlike most of you but thats cool to each their own....Like I said there is a great vibe in there. Next time choose your words more carefully, then maybe people would not take such an offence to it.... |
+1. Ive done it both with and without and I always seem to have a better time without...
The gallery was rocking that night...and thats the bottom line. And for somebody whos sober for every party for the past two years plus, its much easier for me to spot out the "XTRA MASHED UP" ppl...and honestly, you've got to be "XTRA MASHED" yourself if you think that the people in the Gallery were the ones mashed up....or maybe they were havin too good a time to pay any attention to you and thats why it wasnt good for you in there....something to think about.... |

I agree with the first statement.
The gallery was definately the highlight of my night as well, save for a few of the tracks that Marco V dropped that I was dying to hear ie. Damn Noa - Like A Prayer (Marco V mix), False Light, More Than A Life Away, etc.
I always feel better when I go home utterly exhausted after a night of sober partying. It get's REALLY tiring though when you work all week and then have to endure that for a good 10 hours.
For Sale - Buy Now = pure ownage x 2 that night. |

Finally - my review are you ready???
This evening was an important one for me for many reasons.
First of all - the fact that I would be seeing a lot of people that I haven't seen for a while and some that I knew I didn't want to see this night had alot of possibilities for interaction on many levels.
That said
I spent an enjoyable evening with my friend Mikey and was quite looking forward to the fact that it was his first real clubbing experience and of course as an ambassador of good times I wanted him to have an awesome/perfect/drama free time.
It also put me in an awesome mood to start the evening because if worse came to worse I had one person there to spend the night with in case all else failed.
So we got to the Gallery at around 10:30 worried about a potential line-up that wasn't there because the doors never opened until almost 11:30 - UGGHH - that bothered me - because of course we were on the list (thanks PAT!!!:)) and we were supposed to just waltz right in like VIP - again - for me personally I didn't care as much (though it was F'ING COLD!!) LOL! But ya - perfect scenario didn't happen and we waited outside for like an hour - but the conversations outside with Christina and a few other TA's made the wait go by much faster - WIKKID!
So Addy finally shows up and the music is turned on and we are allowed in.......and of course it was quite cold in the Gallery - and took a while for it to stay warm as the door set-up isnt the best and whenever the door opened cold air came rushing in. This was also my first experience in the Gallery - nice set-up - good sound and friendly bar staff. It is true that Addy's mixing was very off and was not to the standard that I have seen him at dozens of times over the last 7 years. But Mikey and I mingled and made sure to introduce him to everyone. I did find the Gallery to be a bit stuffy/uptight with people and not very relaxing as people seemed to be waiting to get their party on but I made the best of it with Mikey, Angelo and his crew that were already smashed (HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELO WOOT!!).
Danced a bit and partied it up with some of the TA's and also talked a fair bit with Erin (DEKO-ZE's manager - WIKKID girl - I love Erin!!!) and saw a few homo's that I hadn't seen in a while either. Makes sense - they are the same crowd that goes to 5ive for Sidney Blue and Deko-Ze when he used to spin there on Sundays. And of course some Comfort Zone people as these DJ's in the Gallery are all COZO residents as well.
I had an alright time in the Gallery - I really wasn't feeling the music - also maybe because I was totally sober as well - LOL! Who knows - also I did have some other on my mind as well - as most of you know full well from the one thread that carried on most of last week. A couple of drinks later (thanks Angelo, Mark and Erin!!!) and some funny situations (like Asian dude going into the guys bathroom and throwing up all over the urinals - SPEEDY PILLS MAYBE???) and then walking out with this 10 foot trail of paper towel stuck to the bottom of his foot - HAHAHAA - CLASSIC!! I was ready to get the night started and was waiting for some good hard beats - which sorta came but didn't. Seeing someone do GHB didn't help my mood either - like I needed to see that!
(on a sidenote - if Nada saw this as I did - sketchy Asian speedy pill throw-up dude, G-Whores and Co-Zo/gay crowd - these were the MASHED-UP people she is talking about I am sure and as I saw it as well sketch was there - but most of the TA's were hardly mashed up because we had yet to hit the main room and dose - LOL!!!)
But regardless - I knew soon enough the main room would open and Marco V would proceed to bring on the beats and I was looking more forward to that than anything else. Again I also had a Guvernment nOObie with me and couldn't wait to see the look on his face when we entered the main room.
So we stuck it out and Mikey actually mentioned around 2:30 - isn't that other room open yet?? I was like sure ya wanna go - he was like ya - no more house! I want something harder!!! (keep your minds clean guys -LOL!!!) so anyways we headed into the main room - passing through the Orange Room and I lost Mikey - I kinda panicked for a second (poor little gay boy around all those hip-hop hoodies) but realized he thought he saw BEACH420 and went to say hi only to have the girl say WTF?? He laughed OOOPS! Have fun - we are going to MARCO V - WIKKID! - LOL!
Well we went into the main room and he was like "HOLY FAAACK!!!! I had no idea it would look like this??? - I thought it would be like the gallery only bigger!!" These are the beats that I like WIKKID!"
So I proceeded to wander up to the front where Jenn, Drew, Dannie, Fahad, Tyler, Kelly, Jay, Paula were and after making sure that everyone was introduced to Mikey began the night propper.
(another sidenote - I think Mikey met over 40 of you that night - and the fact that he made a point to introduce HIMSELF to everyone with a big smile and kindness - is rare at these TA events - I have been going out to these parties with you guys for months now and have still to meet some of you - either from your own shyness or me not noticing you. I was so glad that Mike is the type of person to be open, eager, and outgoing - again he was in for the night of his life - maybe that had something to do with it - he threw himself into the night and made the most out of it that he could.
So the music was good - I heard a lot of songs that I liked - heading up to the stage with Mikey in tow - we danced along side Paula, Dan, Starsearcher, Cyper, and TORE IT UP! Mikey was happy he had glowsticks (thanks Dan - but you were standing there with your eyes closed not using them - remember - LOL!!!). And we proceeded to have a great time - I enjoy the crowds when manouvering through them to get to the bathrooms for much needed water fill-ups (challenge me - I am a quick mother******!) and everytime I came back Mikey had someone else he was chatting up and throwing it down like a pro with.
I remember at one point a song came on and Dan was like I know this song it starts with a C or something I am like hmmm - I know it too what is it - Dan was like Marcel Woods - ADVANCED - OH !! I looked over the crowd and before that midline/arpeggio sound kicked in - I yelled out MARCEL WOODS WHAT?!?!?!?! That got a few WOOHOO'S!!! and then the baseline kicked in and we LOST IT! I thought it was true - that his set was better in February at he did play much harder then - but with Mikey, Paula, Dan, Cyper on the stage - I had a WIKKID WIKKID time!
I had not been out to to the GUV since Oct 1 for Dekay and I had missed the BIGROOM vibe and I felt it that night - the dancers on the podiums were excellent and the crowd in general was much less pushy and a hell lot more space to dance than normal. Combined with Mikey having a WIKKID time and the TA's that I love the most being there made up for a less than stellar tracklisting - this night was more about the people I was with and the good times we were obviously having.
The time flew by - say MarkT (thanks for the talk brother - you are a good friend to me!), MusicSnob, ChrisMack, Beanie Boy, and TATGIRL - WOOT WOOT - CONGRATS!!!! - Nice conversations with you as always and thanks for the MArcoV armband! WOOT!
Chem-Enhanced and Moral Hazard - I mentioned finally the both of you in the same room - THE ODDS! - THEY ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON!!!LOL!!
Nada, Ali - WOOT WOOT! So nice to see you again - you are awesome and thanks for the nice gestures you always extend to me.
And yes it is true after the group photo we took with Marco V - Nada grabbed my hand and we went to dance the two of us in our own space and if Armin Van Buuren - Shivers - did not automatically come on at that moment. WOW - a flood of memories rushed over me - NADA COTTAGE WHAT??? - COOKING CHICKEN FOR 6+ HOURS WHEN THE CHICKEN WAS ALREADY COOKED WHAT???? - AVB - SHIVERS!!!!!! WHAT!?!?!?!? One of the highlights of my summer was that weekend at the cottage - and as many had posted in that review thread - when that song was dropped in the basement of the Tyrolean Cottage - tears of happiness were shead as we LOST IT HARDCORE DANCESTYLEE that early morning August 21 2005.
If I had not known fate/coincidence to step in when it had - I would have sworn that Nada had Mark Oliver play that song at that moment specifically - and that was the reason for grabbing me away from Mikey and the TA crew and proceeded to throw it down just the 2 of us. Ali just stood back and watched us go and we had this other guy (cute I might add) get hyped with us and added to the moment with his copy cat enthusiam!!! - WIKKID WIKKID BRING IT UP BRING IT UP!
Definitely a highlight of my night - thank you Nada!!! I am glad you stayed long enough for it to happen. MUAHH!!!
I then said my goodbyes to Nada and Ali and Jenn and then proceeded to tear it up for a bit to Mark Oliver - interesting track listing for sure - lots of unexpected songs but having Nathalie freak out when they played that HEADLIGHTS track was funny - I am like POST THAT ! someone will know!!! And sure enough - we are teh smartest trainspotters out there and question answered not a problem!
I left with Mikey around 7 or so and after saying our goodbyes (Mikey was as good at his hellos as he was at his goodbyes!) left the club and headed back to his place.
Mark and Val saw us walking and drove us home WOOT - THANK YOU AGAIN!
And we tried to sleep....... but that didn't happen;). Such a fun time was had that he wouldn't shut up about the night! LOL!!
So now I have a GUV whore on my hands - he wants to come again on Saturday - and of course I will oblige.
Thanks to everyone who made this long overdue night out FUN FUN FUN and DRAMA free and so much fun for my friend Mikey from Fort Erie.
WIKKID WIKKID WHAT?!??! UH-HUH THAT'S MY !

sorry to do this but back on the topic about "watch what u say not to offend anyone"... DUH
by illnada saying that people in the drink AND the gallery were XTRA MASHED UP only implies 2 things:
1) she has an elitest attitude about her choice of music being better than others (expecially house heads in this case)
2) to listen to house u have to be mashed (meanwhile i dunno if she had a good look beyond the "FRONT AND CENTER" and saw what the percentage of people are not just mashed but ed out of their skulls at guv events-especially trance events)
theres a way of saying u didnt like what was going on there rather than just degrading everything related to it. a simple "IMO the music wasnt really all that great ni the drink and gallery" would be good enough |

Thanks for the review.
Correction:
Cassidy...you were told that the Gallery doors don't open till 11pm. You were also told that there would hardly be a lineup and that it would be quick access in. Yet you chose to showup at 10:30. The door opened at 11:15 and you did waltz right in at 11:22, not 11:30 as you've stated..and I know this because I was there. I know if it had been the Guv...your ass would of been outside in that lineup much longer than this one.
Again..Addy's set was finished by the time the Guv Access was allowed. No one from the Guv was allowed into the Gallery room. So there is no way that anyone that was in the Guv saw or heard Addy and if they wanted access they would of had to go outside and come in thru the Jarvis doors and pay the fee again. And that is the fact.
As you stated..you weren't quite yourself this night and of course you say you were sober, this would affect how you viewed everything in the room. So obviously it was not your scene on this night.
Sketchy ppl are everywhere, and even moreso in the Guv.
So now let's just stick the the actual reviews of the dj's and the music please. |
