Best MP3 Players Out There

O.K so I know that everyone and their best friends roommate has an i-pod but is it really worth it or is it just a trend?

I mainly want something that has wicked sound quality and can hold at least 10 gigs, if not a lot more. I don't care if it's ugly as sin or trendy looking, I want quality of sound and something that isn't going to be incredibly slow as far as loading songs goes either.

Any reccomendations?

Get an iPod. Seriously, you'll love it.

The iPod are swanky and so are the Sony A600 Series.

What would I buy myself?

I'd get a 4 GB iPod Nano (w/ a Speck iSkin Nano to protect it).

OR

I'd get a Sony A600 2 GB.

It's confusing as hell because I always hear two arguments:

1. i-pods rule - they hold a lot of music, they're easy to use and they look pretty cool

2. i-pods suck - the sound quality isn't as good as what else is out there, the battery life sucks and it's a waste of money comparatively

The new Sony players look bad ass but I don't know how they sound, plus there isn't enough space on it for me. I'm leaning towards on i-pod based on the song capacity but I want to know how good it sounds compared to other players and how long it's going to last me.

I absolutely adore my Zen Micro.

Some of those skins look badass

:p :p :p

AND they're just a stupid fad. Apple's very good at marketing crappy products by making them look pretty and seem cool. They're not.

SAY NO to I-Pods.

I was in the same boat like 2 days ago, lol. I decided to go with a Toshiba Gigabeat F10. 10 gigs, and you can find them being sold online for like $220. Bestbuy.ca just had a deal where you could have grabbed one for 250 (not sure if they still have some in stock - 2 left on Saturday). Screw paying almost 400 for an iPod.

Never bought myself an IPOD but I had borrowed one from a friend (the older fat thick 20gb model) and from my experience it was GARBAGE. I had a helluva time copying songs from my PC to the IPOD (the HDD might have been corrupt), upgrading the firmware, battery life was pretty short and playing various songs/sets were unreadable. How much they have improved? I really have no idea but I would have to agree that ANY and EVERYTHING Apple makes is ridiculously overpriced. All of their products try to have this flashy look and made out to be oh so user friendly for a very overpriced product that offers half the features/storage capacity other companys offer. They have a different IPOD for photo, music and video (minus the new video/mp3 one).

My suggestion? Well sh!t I don't have any recommendations for other MP3 players so I would do some thorough research before blowing $300+ on an IPOD.

2 MP3 player companies that make vastly superior players to Apple's. By buying ipod you're only supporting overpriced mediocrity.

Oh, and if you want sound quality, then I can tell you without a shred of doubt that you will not be dissappointed with anything Iriver puts out. I haven't personally used anything by Iaudio, but the numerous awards their players have been winning recently tells me they must be doing something right too.

I'm not a big fan of hard drive mp3 players.
Get something with a flash drive like the Nano or better yet, the Rio.
I've had this one for over 1 1/2 years and have had NO problems with it at all.
It's 256Meg builtin and expandable to 1 Gig and takes one standard AAA battery. It's solid, the menu control is exceptional, has FM radio (good for the gym) and with a good pair of headphones, sounds great.
It won't break the bank either; it's on for $80 bucks at BestBuy.

I'd recommend the next version up (512Meg built-in, expandable to 1.5Gig SD Card) however as it has a USB2.0 connection which will make uploading your songs to the player MUCH quicker...
(only $129 at BestBuy)

Whatever you choose, remember to only listen to Trance and related gendres or we will ostracize you... (kidding!) :clown:
