| i don't think its true that mexicans take the jobs that "white americans" won't do. here in LA most of the low-wage jobs are done by mexicans and other south/central americans, but if you go to other parts of the country where the population is mostly white, you see white people do the same things that mexicans do here, ie, work as janitors, gardeners, contruction workers, etc. it's just that there's so many mexicans here illegally that they agree to work "under the table" for lower wages and end up getting hired in larger numbers than other legal workers, hence the misconception that they're more willing to perform menial labor. |

White America? Blacks are just as lazy and Asians need maids too. Don't just blame it on white people now. Plus, as has been stated, unlike Mexico, Canadians aren't trying to cross the boarder by the thousands. If anything, I think there's a small group of gays crossing the other direction towards Canada because marriage is legally recognized there.

The only reason there are no Canadians crossing the northern border is due in part Canada is pretty much like the US. A country that has its together. Unlike 99.5% of the south american countries. That still live and allow thier people to live in 3rd world status.
If you knew you could make a load of money in another country, provide for your family and better your self, would you not cross that border??
And yeah yeah yeah, there are proper channels to go by, but when your house is made out of mud, and your kids go searching through the ing trash heaps for dinner, then you will do whatever it takes. |

I agree. Although I'm not for a mass immigration from Mexico to the US, if I were a Mexican living in the situation you stated above, I definitely would try to cross the border. |

| Im not understanding where all these new Mexican immigrants get jobs. Are there that many new business constantly opening up where they can sustain the influx from the south? And, I agree that if you go to other parts of the U.S. you will find white Americans doing any so called "undesirable" jobs. I haven't heard of toilets and gardens getting out of control in these parts because of no Mexicans there to take care of them. And, it is ridiculous to think that this country should be responsible in taking care of everybody that decides to illegally enter. Thinking that that we are racist (that is not even the correct term as Mexicans are not a race) by wanting to keep illegals out is not only wrong but ignorant on anyone's part that thinks so. |

Here's my POV:
Mexicans aren't taking the jobs American's don't want. They are taking jobs for a cheaper rate. Then some can argue: Why do Americans want to be paid so much? Simple--Lifestyles. The typical Mexican household is made up of many family members, all contributing to one family bank account per se. They also reep the benefits of welfare everytime they have another kid. They also reep the benefits of tax dodging, not all, but some. Americans on the other hand don't breed as much as Mexicans. Americans also consist of many single person households. This calls for an independent income of oneself. No single person can live off of the wages most Mexicans work for.
Again the statement that Mexicans take the jobs Americans don't want is misconstrued. They take the jobs by undercutting American wages! |
