The Yankees aren't going to sign Manny. And they won't get him... ever. Well... maybe in three years. But not before then. :p
And does anyone else agree with me that Johnny Damon is one of the least intelligent baseball players out there? I was listening to his Press Conference today on the radio... he's a moron. |

The sox need a new CF/leadoff man now but we're still in good shape
other than that...and our pitching will be much better with Beckett and a healthy Curt Schilling...Lowell will bring more power to the lineup than Mueller did. The closer situation needs to be resolved too if Foulke isnt gonna be the guy..

The Yankees dont need to score more runs though, they did just fine last year, most of their losses came because of poor pitching, more politically correct term would be very inconsistent pitching. |
and a lot of that was because of a mediocre middle relief bullpen, which they have shored up well with Farnsworth, Villone, Myers and Dotel. Plus they still have Sturtze, Small in the bullpen most likely and Mo. Johnson and Mussina are still good for probably 15 wins each (I predict the Unit will be much better this year), Pavano is hit or miss and could have a great season. Wang proved himself as did Chacon. No, it's not the best rotation in the league, but it's a lot better than a lot of teams. And you know, this all star lineup might even convince Roger to come back for one more glorious run.
I really don't understand all the Yankee haters. Is your hatred clouding your judgement here? They are clearly the favourite in the East. |

I think people are just fed up with the fact that the Yankees are always the favorite. If you live in NY and are a fan, you love them, but if youre not a fan you love to hate them - its just the way it is. |

well, there are Yankee fans all over North America and even the world...just like Manchester United. Anyway, the Yanks just can't win. If they spent the same amount as other teams (even though they have way more money TO spend), they might not contend which would piss their fan base off. Yet, when they go out and spend and if they don't win, everybody gets on them and says money doesn't buy championships. When they do win and compete year in year out, people complain that they bought the World Series. It's pretty retarded if you ask me.
The New York Yankees ARE baseball. Take them away and you lose the whole league's identity. That's like the NHL without the Montreal Canadiens or the Leafs, or the NFL without the Cowboys or the Chicago Bears. Anybody who says MLB is better off without the Yankees because of their payroll is just a jealous, lame fan. |

They should trade for Coco Crisp. Sign Alex Gonzalez. See what the Rays are asking for Aubrey Huff. |

well no...I don't hate the Mets either. But I live in Blue Jay territory and to a lesser degree, Tiger turf too. All I ever hear in Canadian and local sports columns is constant whining about how the Yanks (and some mention the Red Sox) make it impossible for teams (read..the Bj's) to compete. ANd it's not just Canadian resentment...it's all over the USA. ESPN is horrible for their Anti-Yankee stance. |

I'd definitely like to see another power bat in there but the immediate need is definitely a leadoff man...noone on the roster now can even fill in temporarily for that. |

A lead-off man just needs to get on base. Especially with Loretta/Manny/Ortiz behind him. Coco Crisp, while not Johnny Damon, is only 26 years old and his OBP the past two years has been .344 and .345. Plus, he plays Center Field. I think that he's the ebst fit out there right now and he has been rumored to be headed to the Red Sox for Arroyo and someone else.
Aubrey Huff would MASH in Fenway. |
