So basically this is a new law that just passed and starting soon it it will be mandetory for anyone working as a securty(club, bar, etc} has to get licensed and trained.I dont know if that will make people safer then they are now or is this some sort of new scandle so that the government could make more money off of the entertainment industry.I guess we'll have to wait and see.

In a way I like this idea, since I know that there are alot of people with criminal records working as security in the industry because it is easy money for them.

so whats your thought on this?

they have just introduced this in australia to get rid of the bikies who had a strangle hold on the security business. i think its a excellent idea and should of been implemented years ago.

most likely would of saved my friend from brain damage he recieved from a cheap shot by a bouncer. alot of bouncers dont know how to handle people and should not be allowed to work in the industry.

I agree with your points. But I dont think thats the reason why our government is doing this. They are trying to reduce the violence that happens every week in the club district, and that violence isnt caused by the bouncers(mose of the time).

I wonder how much do all these trainings will cost?:nervous:

Exactly :)

I support the idea, and hope that the training program is setup to properly train/certify the security staff, and not just make money.

I don't know much (heck next to nil) about what it takes to be a bouncer, but from my law classes I do remember reading a few cases where the security at bars/clubs would make dumb moves and end up causing a law suit (successful in most, if not all cases, can't recall) for themselves and the employer.

So in short, I can see this licensing/training being beneficial.

can we also give them etiquette lessons....specially "ONE" club in particular (without mentioning names)....I think this is an absolutely great idea!

I will miss the security staff at System - they totally kick ass....

I like the idea. Its all a matter of it peing pulled off properly.

90% of clubs I've been to have these idiot bouncers that are high on themselves and steroids and are looking to smash someones head in. These are the morons we need to get rid of.

Random thoughts here.

Having moonlighted in the security/door staff/door goon role pretty much since 1996 I will say there are some bad apples that are out there, but isn't this the way for most industries?

There has also been a dramatic shift in the amount of violence, which has driven me away from certain establishments, including working there, or even going in for drink. The rise of "gangster" culture and I say this with a smile and more urban wear I think in ways that are hard to explain contribute to this violence. It seems is "cool" to be rude and be a thug-its give and take.

I will say there has been a dramatic shift in the way situations are handled from when I first arrived until now. The shift is more to the night host attitude as opposed to most peoples picture of your security bruiser.

Is this better for the industry? 100% yes, treat people with respect, polite, and with a smile funny enough and it goes a long way in avoiding confrontation. Set that tone with the rest of the security staff and again, it goes a long way. Dress code, being a little more selective on who comes into the establishment, etc, all are key in helping everyone having a great night, patrons, staff, etc.

Not sure how having some sort of certification will reduce the amount of violence in the industry or help.

Just my two cents.

here here. How you present your brand and what your club stands for should ALWAYS extend beyond the music and the management. Making sure all your employees share the same vision and the same friendly attitude towards clientele shows that a club owner and management really cares. No matter how great the sound, great the venue, great the music, it is the people and attitude that keep me going back. This year we have seen many new clubs and promotional teams, who really GET IT, set up shop. Keeping up with their healthy attitude towards providing an all around enjoyable club experience is what will bring them success in this city.

I can see why this new legislation is being introduced. If the onus is on the club owner, guaranteed there are some out there that just don’t care enough to ensure that their staff are trained properly or are treating their clientele properly.

+ 1 here also.

Just like another jobs out there that need proper trainings and skills in order to work. Bouncers are part of a clubbing business and those people are representing the club. They need interpersonal relationship skills to handle some difficult situation, unfortunately that is what lacking now days. Since we are the customers and spend money to enjoy an experience, the stuff is also part of that experience too.

Making a living off of bouncing = lifer.

It's a mug's job, something to do to kill time until you get a real job.

Just speaking from experience.
