Your opinion has been noted.

The thing is, I'm trying to be the good guy by opening up your minds to a higher level of consciousness.

Don't try and put me up on a pedestal so that you can knock me down, because it won't happen. I don't proclaim to know everything, but you seem to have little problem putting those words in my mouth. I'm a normal person but for the fact that I'm passionate about literature and writing, among other things. I find the internet to be a great place to exercise my verbal prowess, and I've also learned to put up with the small-minded critics who always seem to be much more concerned with trying to knock me down to their level than they are with elevating themselves.

I wasn't even going to dignify your response, but it was such a reach that I figured I better clarify my stance in regards to your misperception.

Well, I'm happy that I at least provoked a few responses from a few of you whom I would have otherwise considered to be amongst the ranks of the otherwise indifferent masses (not including ZzZ as she actually seems to take an interest in this world.)

In regards to my "I don't expect you to read it" comment, it means exactly what it says - I don't expect you to care enough to even bother clicking my link. You're too content talking about other people to even care about opening your minds to alternative thoughts or ideas. And yeah, I more or less expect you to continue spewing your sophomoric drivel in an attempt to try and suppress my argument (by childishly attacking me instead of the argument itself, no less.)

BTW - that link correlated to what I was talking about, but I guess you missed that part.

You can post all of the +1's that you want, it's no sweat off my back. I didn't join TA in the anticipation of entering another grade school popularity contest - even though it's obvious that's what it's been reduced to over the years. I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone other than myself. ;)

I think you missed my point. I have no problem with your agrument - the same banal one any averagely intelligent person would make. I, however, have a problem with YOU.

I didn't bother reading your link for more than two seconds because it contained everything I've already thought of myself, as well as everything I learned in my freshman year Mass Media & Society Class... and less.

I don't know why people like you always seem to think that what you are interested in is what everyone else should be interested in. If one of us does not choose to click on your dinky little link that contains the same point of view we've heard 20 times, you think it must be because we are too busy, say, watching Scooby Doo. Or drinking Corona. Or scratching our asses. Did it ever occur to you that other people besides you read? That we think, and discuss, and go to really great colleges? I've seen and heard great things from (almost) everyone - well at least my friends - on this board. When they post links and opinions, they don't do it to condescendingly edify others, to lift others up from their clouded oblivion of stupidity. They do it to state opinions in a friendly way, to discuss with friends or to have an argument while (most of the time) respecting others. When you post things, they come off as condescending. They come off as one-sided challenges and threats.

Did it ever occur to you that people might already KNOW? Did it ever occur to you that nobody needs you to be his savior?

it's funny that the preppy douchebag is a history grad student because them fortune 500 companies ain't exactly knockin' down our door...

edit/my .02:

to trancer-x: it's funny that we're all discussing 'intelligence' in such a flippant manner when in fundamental terms, the ivy league ph.d is no more 'intelligent' than the toothless trailer park yokel.

to missbliss: i'd hope you'll remember your denunciations of glib condescension the next time you or your bf post something to the effect of trance fans having not yet evolved to the levels of electro/house/blippetyblop-appreciation.

Well had you have been here regularly, you would find I often post trance mixes and enjoy all forms of music. But when i do denounce the music, it would be against the mediocrity which it has become, lack of innovation and full of formulaic elements.

But it's true, they haven't yet and I can only pity them! One day I will take over! :p Also, there's a difference between flippant and serious. ;)

Okay Miss Thang, then why is such a large portion of our society so self-centered and materialistic, as well as apathetic and ignorant to our increasingly negative sociopolitical climate? Intelligence doesn't necessarily correlate with enlightened thinking - knowledge does.

So you did or didn't read it? You lost me there. Something you didn't bother to read, you think contained everything you ever thought of yourself? With such skills, you should really join a debate team!

Well, if you were a true American and not just some ignorantly hypocritical puppet - then you would be concerned about what is going on in our country. You wouldn't be so complacent and you wouldn't be arguing with me. You would be investigating the reasons behind why our government's lies and propaganda are being disseminated at an ever increasing rate. Ignorance is the reason why our society is in such a state of decay and it's also the reason why despotic rulers have been able to sieze power all throughout history. I'm trying to wake people up because there are some seriously ominous signs which are being emblazoned upon the horizon. So if you value your freedom and you want future generations to enjoy the same, then you should care.

Well, let's see here... I guess I do become rather frustrated by the arrogant stupidity displayed by some people, and yes, even though I try not to let it affect me personally - it still happens. My apologies if this puts a crack in that fragile little eggshell ego of yours, as that's not really what I had intended. I guess it's hard to fully comprehend things that fall beyond the boundaries of your narrowly defined scope of perception, but I'm not just going to stop posting because it bothers you. You can put me on ignore if you want, nobody's stopping you.

Well, you've already proven to me that you DON'T KNOW. And if anyone expects our country and our society to save itself without help from it's citizens, then I have a bridge to sell your dumb ass.

Hey, I dropped out of college early on, man. ;)

However, I also used to school some old JHU Poli-Sci and doctorate buddies in most political debates, used to help an ex-gf (that went to Duke) with her English, etc. Almost any idiot can get a degree nowadays.

Seems we have another paranoid intellect that keeps his tinfoil hat at hand's reach while silent black helicopters hover above his house.

Individuals like Trancer-X believe that they are so intelligent and thoughtful that they, and they alone, posses the ability to see through the myth of American freedom.

And since they posses this unique ability to see the world as it truly is - you must be either stupid or too propagandized to honestly disagree with them.

Agree with him and you are an enlightened person, disagree and you are nothing more than an unfortunate fool who has been brainwashed.

He keeps his Zinn and Chomsky books in protective jackets while i keep mine on the shelf next to Mein Kampf, The Turner Diaries, and other entertaining and enlightening glimpses into the minds of the deranged.

He is the type to beleive The United States and Israel (namely, constitutional democracies) are always and everywhere aggressors, while tyrannies that oppose them are always docile and sinned-against (cough cough Iraq). It's an Orwellian logic so extreme that it would be difficult to satirise.

Pseudophilosophical rants from a retard:p
