LONDON (Reuters) - Police in south Wales said on Wednesday they were questioning three men in connection with the kidnap and rape of a three-year-old girl in Cardiff.
Two of the men, aged 34 and 47 were arrested in Wales and the third, aged 26, was detained in Swindon after his vehicle was followed by police.
"Three men are being held on suspicion of the kidnap and rape of this young girl," a
police spokesman said.
South Wales police said detectives were carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the Rumney area after the youngster was abducted in the early hours of January 2.
Police said the girl, who has not been named, remains in hospital were she is being treated for "significant injuries".
Superintendent Josh Jones called for help from the public.
"This is an extremely rare event which makes it all the more shocking," he said in a statement. "Rumney is a close-knit community and we ask the residents to work closely with us in providing any information that they can."

| quote: | FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A woman charged with killing her 3-year-old son on Christmas Day by scalding him with hot water as punishment for soiling his diaper has been investigated at least six times for abuse allegations since 1997, records show.
Valerie Love Kennedy, 30, was accused Oct. 12 of using drugs in front of two of her other children, a 10-month-old and a 2-year-old, according to a report from ChildNet, the private agency supervising state child placements in Broward County.
Both of the children showed signs of physical abuse when a doctor examined them this week, prosecutor Phillippa Hitchins said Tuesday in court. Kennedy has had 10 children, with two dying at birth. It was unclear if any children remained in her custody before her arrest.
In 2001, "medical neglect and physical abuse" led the state to remove five children from Kennedy's house, authorities said. That case led the state to remove Jaquez Mason from Kennedy two months after his premature birth in 2002, according to ChildNet and Broward County sheriff's investigators.
Jaquez was placed with his maternal grandmother, Annie Love Williams, with a court ruling that Kennedy could have no contact with him. But Kennedy had the child at her home on Christmas Day, when she allegedly burned the boy, sheriff's officials said.
Williams then didn't get him proper medical care for his third-degree burns, keeping him at her home for a week before he died on New Year's Day, officials said.
Sheriff's officials said that preliminary reports from medical examiners showed that Jaquez "probably would have survived" had he received proper medical care.
Kennedy is in jail without bail on a murder charge. Williams, 51, was charged with aggravated manslaughter and is free on $10,000 bail.
Abuse allegations had also been made against Williams before the boy's death. |
i cannot even imagine the pain that poor little guy suffered for a whole ing week. burns are the worst kind of injury. that fat bitch can rot in hell. i would love to throw boiling water all over her body and let her sit for a week and die. |

| Yeah, it's a cruel, cruel world. So cruel in fact, 1 in 4 people are walking around with a mental illness. That means, 1 of us posting now in this exact thread right now needs to be blindfolded in a cement room and shot with tranquilizers. Who is it? |

| There is no reasonable explanation in this realm for all the abuse we inflict on each other and ourselves |

I'm just taking a shot in the dark, but I can guess your hard earned tax monies would disappear faster in support of the death penalty rather than Little Davey fish sticks and instant potatoes. |

yea sick for sure. But it begs the question, where do we draw the line for when some act is sick and automatically deserves the death penalty (of course after fair trials n such) and one that does not.
here the act of raping anyone this young seems to warrant the severest penalty to me, but its hard to think of the grey area crimes and which deserve the same or a lighter sentence. |

Umm...well...I guess....I suppose you could pour lots of caramel on 'em...not good Pennzoil Performax type caramel...low octane stuff...and then cover them in eminems...not the good peanut butter type eminems...the basic chocolate type...then after that you could hang them from a tree in front of Ruben Studdards house...well...you can use your imagination from there. |
