Must be difficult liking Tiesto even thou soo many people hate him on here.
Its funny, when I first started out seriously getting into Trance, I loved Tiesto. Then I realized his DJing skills are poopy & hes becoming a mainstream whore (something TA's want trance music to stay away from). And now I hate him... but even if he still comes down & does a show in TO. I'll still go see him. Why? Because whether you love him or hate him.. tostitos still tastes good with that fake cheese! |

| I can't wait to see Tiesto I havent seen him yet and want to experience his djing skills atleast once in my life does anyone know when hes coming back to toronto? |

I will give you that....he is consistent....not consistently good....but he is consistent. Someday......hopefully soon.....he will drop the whole "Look At Me...I'M Tiesto" crap and start caring about the music again. The last time he was in T.O. you could just tell he wasn't up there spinning the music....he was up there wanting you and his Z103 followers to worship him. |

You are right, its funny that's why I like some DJ's better, but at tiesto shows its just always a really good party.
I dunno if I'd want to eat Tostitos with real cheese. Its true. |

Well, in a sense, I find this true too! When he first came out... well, when I first saw him at Wintergalactic 2001, I had no idea who he was. He was just a man behind the decks playing some ing kickass music that I never heard before...
Now... his name is EVERYWHERE!! behind his dj booths, all over the walls, just PLASTERED everywhere! I've really given up on the fact that Tiesto is the one all and be all of DJ's! I mean, he will ALWAYS BE THE #1 DJ IN THE WORLD TO ME!, but I agree that's there's alot other talent out there that's being discovered.... it's just all be masked by all the crap out there too :eek:
To answer someof my own questions.. Sand Van Doorn has reshaped the way of trance and the direction it's headed.. (for that style of trance, granted). Trance will take a harder turn for the hard, techy style, just to distinguish itself from the slow proggy style that seems to be overtaking.
I've noticed Artists like Rank 1 have kept with the times and progressed their sound more than anyone. You can't compare their tracks like Airwave and [email protected]... They are a prime example of where trance is headed, and how to keep up with it. And that's why I feel Sander Van Doorn is showing us the future for Trance.
Tracks that EVERY DJ should be hammering... Pulser - Point of Impact (Miek Koglin Remix).. Pulser played it @ Viva. It's defined the way trance is headed, and is a masterpiece and toying with your emotions during it's play ;) Kiler killer track! Pu tit on some headphones, close your eyes and feel it take you from one level to the next!

I agree with this to some extent because there is no doubt that SVD has a very fresh sound that even people who would normally call Trance 'loud crap' could probably stand and maybe even enjoy if that's not asking too much these days. His productions as Sandler and Sam Sharp are very admirable and like his compatriot Galen Behr(Passiva, Ava Mea, Syndique) , they are the youngest, most diverse producers atm with the proof being in almost every DJ's tracklistings at one time or another in 2005.
BUT, I do think that Tranceaddicts will always want an element of prog that can't be found in SVD/Marcel Wood/any tech-trance artist's productions for the simple reason that it doesn't follow their formula. I also think that like myself, I don't want a rip off of the late 90's because it's been done, attempted to be copied and failed (generally). I think the one producer that caught my ear in 2005 that I could say 'wow, this formula was fresh' was Niklas Harding. Ice Beach, Red Jewel, Butterfly Effect etc... it was refreshing and a hint at what I would want to expect from 2006. |
