Vanos, I wouldn't say that SVD has changed the concept of trance, but he's aman on the move with brilliant ideas! That's why he's made such a name for himself as of late.This guy's gonna go on to do great things... and I wouldn't be surprised if he does change the way tech-trance is headed. He's got many different sounds and even today people don't know what Sander's been behind until after they hear it. Just look at TranceGrooves reaction to Purple Haze :D
And another track I want to talk about... Absolute - New Horizon :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:
This track came out last year and is severly under-rated. Another M.I.K.E. alias, I think it's by far his best production in the past 2 years! Haven't heard it yet?... seriously... GO GET IT!!!

hehe.. I can't believe some people didn't know SvD was Purple Haze.. Ah well.
I think this year won't really be a shift in quality, just more a shift in tone.. I think the world in general has been on this really markus schulz-ey proggy tip, and I honestly think that's about to change. I think 2006 is going to see a lot of electro elements, and with any luck a really dark prog following will take shape..
This and proper tech trance.. This will go kaboom this year.

Well since someone has had the cojones to break the ice (BTW I agree with everything there except the remixes of Air for life were ok), I will follow with my list with no intention of pissing anyone off although I know the "what the hell does this guy know" type replies are sure to come in. :D
1. Marcel Woods-'Advanced'. If there was ever an example of an EDM song that people will bash for sounding like a ringtone...
2. Gabriel & Dresden-'Tracking treasure down'. Maybe it's a good song but I don't have an ear for pop. It's not even EDM and if it is, it's a genre on it's own.
3. PVD-'The other side'. Like sitting out your best player, you have to speak up and be honest when something is bad, and what's worse is deep down he knows this was crap. Big ups to Martin Roth for salvaging some credit.
4. Randy Katana-'Play it loud(er)'. He could have at least thought up of his own crappy breakdown:rolleyes:.
5. Marco V-'False Light'. It's not even the lyrics so much as the song just does nothing for me. |
