If I were thinking critically, i'd say that the only things on the heirarchy that are real needs are the physiological needs, because we require them to live. However, the absence of any of the others can be survived by a human being indefinitely, therefore they are not needed. I might say that it could be the wording of the Wikipedia entry because such things are freely edited by the public and I have never seen an official writing that explains the heirarchy. Given what we have now though, there still remains a very distinct difference between need and want. |
