what he said ^^^
but anyways, just how many people reside on Toronto Island? I'm pretty sure if we're in larger numbers then we'd have the advantage... |
not many |

OK folks - I know you all love rumours but I want to give the straight goods here. Over the past year the Docks has been involved in hearings with regard to its license. While those hearings have now concluded and a recomendation has been made, its only a recomendation. There is a whole legal and appeal process ahead that could take months, if not years to complete. During this time, The Docks is allowed to operate as normal. That means it HAS NOT LOST ITS LICENSE TO SELL ALCOHOL and may never lose it - its just one battle in a long war.
As you know, we rent the facility for a number of our Destiny events so I do have a conduit for the straight facts and these are them.

unfortunately you'd ahve to move those s out of there first, and there's no way they're leaving those cushy spots. |

| I just don't understand why the people on the island are being blamed for this? how about being mad at the docs for NOT sound proofing their club properly? Do it right and NOBODY has a problem. I would be PISSED if I had to hear music all night long out of some club. There are noise curfews for a reason, just follow them and everyone can get along. You don't see the Guv getting in crap. Man in Miami (south beach) the sound resrtictions are so agressive now clubs are being shut down all over the place.... and just so you know these resrtrictions were around BEFORE the docs came along, they are well known, and the docs couldn't follow them. |

Before you spout off newbie , learnt the facts , the docks has spent hundreds of thousands on sound proofing , even more on noise monitoring equipment and turned down the system to a level that is deemed inadequate by many.
this is not good enough for the islanders , they do not even want the small 8" 60 watt speakers playing on our patio , fact is they don't want us open anymore even though they actually aknowledge that things are much better.
The Guv doesn't get in crap because they are not so close and FYI , there are charges lined up for every club near the water once they have dealt with the docks , we are just the first.
The Hypocrasy of all this is that they want to use the law to force us out , yet they themselves refused legal procedings to evict them years ago , now they want the law on thier side
and many times have accused us of noise when we haven't even been open and the noise source has turned out to be a boat cruise or the Guv .
As Jayx has put it they live in a city , we offered to soundproof thier cottages but they want to sleep at night with the windows open
we employ 400 people pay millons in city taxes (more in 1 year then all the islanders put together would ever pay) and proveide indirect revenue to countless other suppliers and businesses.
Do they care that all these people will be out of work, do they care , hell no , they will only be happy when there are no boatcruises, no redpath sugar (yes they have complained about them to) , no Guv , no Island airport etc etc
so unless you know what you are taling about how about a nice cup of shut the up |

You'd rather they were out of a home... do you really lack the perspective to see how absurd your rhetoric is? |

| Try telling your family there is no pay cheque anymore and then see how your perspective is |
